The Kansas City Chiefs have some business to attend to today at Arrowhead Stadium but to get to the playoffs they are going to needs some help elsewhere.
The fact that we are sitting here just the day before Christmas talking about KC getting into the playoffs is remarkable. With the injuries to Matt Cassel, Jamaal Charles, Tony Moeaki and Eric Berry, plus the firing of Todd Haley, the Chiefs are pretty fortunate to still be in the playoff discussion.
There are a few simple things that need to happen for KC to win the AFC West for the second straight season. I’ll break it down and tell you who you are rooting for today (other than the Chiefs) after the jump.
Arrowhead Addict Presents:
Your Holiday Wish List
1. Chiefs beat the Raiders
2. Bills beat the Broncos
3. Lions beat the Chargers
If all three of these things happen today, the Chiefs will play the Denver Broncos for the AFC West crown next week. The Raiders and Chargers will be officially eliminated from playoff contention.
With just two weeks to go, there are still scenarios in which all four AFC West teams can still win the division. All of that will go out the window, however, if the Denver Broncos beat the Bills today and move to nine wins. The Bills absolutely HAVE to beat the Broncos today or the race is over.
If only one and two on our list happen, then the Chiefs will need the Raiders to beat the Chargers next week. San Diego must lose one of their next two games for the Chiefs to get in.
So keep an eye on the scoreboard today.
To review: Go Bills, Go Lions.
And Go Chiefs!
