Fantasy Football Week 9: Chiefs Players To Watch

Fantasy Football week nine is about to get underway. Fantasy races are heating up as we inch closer and closer to the playoffs.

If you are looking for some sneaky plays for this week’s game, the Kansas City Chiefs may have a number of players that could put up big fantasy days vs. the Dolphins.

Matt Cassel

Matt Cassel is getting more and more comfortable with his new receiving options. This will be his third straight week having Jon Baldwin in the lineup with Steve Breaston and Dwayne Bowe. On top of that, the Dolphins defense ranks 13th in the league against the run. If the Dolphins shut down the KC run game, look for Cassel to air it out.

Cassel doesn’t usually put up huge numbers but he takes care of the football. If you are in a tight spot, you could do worse than Cassel.

More after the jump.

Chiefs Defense

After the way the Chiefs defense started the season you would think the wise move would be to avoid them like the plaque. Yet the last few weeks the KC D has been sensational. Derrick Johnson, Tamba Hali and Brandon Flowers have been terrorizing opposing QB’s. Romeo Crennel’s squad has also been doing an excellent job of shutting down the run over the team’s four game winning streak. That means the Dolphins will likely have to air it out with Matt Moore. If that is the case, I like the KC DB’s to come up with a couple of interceptions. I think KC’s D is a strong play this week.

Dwayne Bowe

Bow isn’t a guy you’ll find on the waiver wire but if you own him he is a must-start this week. Bowe’s been down a bit the last couple of weeks but he is still Matt Cassel’s favorite target, especially in the red zone. After two “down games” Bowe is likely to have a breakout performance soon. The Dolphins D will be the perfect tonic for what ails him
