When I know what our team looks like and I look at the schedule I am going to be very mad if we are 2-3 going into week 6. The Vikings and Colts simply must beat us for us to stay in the race and so we simply cannot afford to win those games. It would appear our game against the Colts could very well be the deciding game in the Luck sweepstakes. The thing is our playmakers are so young. Berry, Flowers, CJ, Bowe, Baldwin (assuming he ever plays), so if we can get a franchise QB who is actually good (and Luck looks really really good) then I think we could be a sb contender in 3 years easily. Cassel is not going to win a team a super bowl anytime soon, and Luck most definitely can. I want someone leading our team who has the potential to make it to and win the big one. After week 5 on the schedule there simply isn't a team left that we are good enough to beat. I would hate to see us go and win 2 games out of the next 3 (vikings and colts) which would possibly end our chance at Luck.

The Chiefs should make sure that Haley stays away from high places and sharp objects. Or, maybe not.

I guess we just both have a difference of opinions. I have, along with many other Chiefs fans, suffered through many years of frustration rooting for something that hasn't happened since 1970. I was in the old Municipal Stadium on Christmas Day, one year after our Super Bowl win, to see the longest game in NFL history. Since that loss to the Dolphins, the Chiefs have been to the AFC Championship ONCE! Yeah, I will still root for them to win, but I am also a realist. There is no playoff on the horizon with the team as it is now. Cassel is not a championship QB. As I said earlier, by all the current measures for a star QB, Andrew Luck is a guy that comes along once in a decade. Three years from now, I do not want to look back on this season and see we went 4-12 and are still looking for the "Right 53", which does not include a franchise QB.

Well, we've brought in Langford and Becht, and are thinking about bringing back Mike Cox. Sure looks like Pioli is trying to suck for Luck at this point.

I am pretty sure that our opinions will be in the minority, but I'll live with it. We have no shot at a playoff appearance, so I want the next best option, Andrew Luck.

Kurt, my family has been season ticket holders since Arrowhead was built. Since that time, we, like all Chiefs fans have been rewarded with......zero SuperBowls. Nada. Yeah, there have been some great seasons. 13-3 a couple of times. Some playoff games. Joe Montana was fun the time he spent here. Through it all, the money was spent to be in Arrowhead year after year. Still, no real rewards, but a lot of coulda, woulda, shoulda. Months of off seasons hoping that King Carl, or those before him, made the right decisions, for the team and it's fans. If it takes 2-14 to get where we deserve to go, then I am in. Do I really want to see them fail like that? No. But the likely hood of an 0-3 start is almost assured. Let's say we beat the Vikings, to start 1-3. Then, get by the Colts. OK, now we are 2-3. I see maybe two more wins. Does 4-12 get us Luck. Probably not. Just another ending to a bad season. Then we start all over again. After years and thousands of dollars supporting this team, we and all the Chiefs fans need something more to look forward to.

no disrespect or anything but as i was reading your post i was saddened and dishearted. I mean think about it the saying is SUCK for luck that means your rooting for us to do poorly how is that not rooting AGAINST the chiefs?????

I will not be rooting (or hoping) for the Chiefs to struggle in order to get the first pick in the draft-UNLESS it becomes a very real possibility the last two weeks of the season. This team is going to struggle whether we wish for it or not--too many injuries to key players already. And their schedule is going to be rough. Even the games that looked like gimmees are going to be a challenge now. Without Charles, the Chiefs will need a different scheme in order to allow Cassel to be effective; whether that is possible or not remains to be seen. But, for now, I'm still rooting for the a miraculous team recovery.

I really feel that for the Chiefs to be competitive that they must replace Cassel with a franchise QB. The only way you get one is through the draft. This year we have three of those QB types in the draft. I have watched Luck play the last two year and yes he IS much like a John Elway. After the last 4 regular season games, and one post I now know that Matt Cassel is not the guy to lead us to the promise land. After watching 1st round guys like Cam Newton take an offense with less talent throw for over 400 yards it has become clear to me that to win you must be able to pass, and the Chiefs with Cassel are mediocre at best. Cassel in 2010 benifited from having the #1 rushing attack in the league. Teams stacked the box on every offensive down leaving the likes of Bowe and Moeaki in single coverage most of the game, Yet, most of Cassel passing yards came via the check route, You have to be able to challenge down field on a consistent basis, and Cassel doesn't have the arm strength, confidence or accuracy to do that. He has been in the league enough years to already have that part of his game developed. Please check Matt Stafford as a reference. For the Chiefs to make it to the Superbowl we must have an elite passer, and not just a game manager to get there. All you have to do is look at the teams that are consistently in the playoffs, and who their QB's are to realize we don't match up. We must take the necessary steps to get a QB that fits into that category. If that means having yet again another losing season to have 10 plus years with a competitive Chiefs team then Suck for Luck I am. That doesn't mean I have to root for teams like the Raiders to beat us just simply that we lose just enough to lock up the #1 pick. I have been a fan since I can remember, and at age 32 the last time I seen the Chiefs have a chance at a SB was when Elvis Garbac took the reigns from Gannon to flop in the AFC championship game. That has been a quite a while my friends. I do not think that me or anyone else feeling this way is anti team. To me I honestly feel that we are still rebuilding and what a way to make an impact on this young talented team with a true franchise QB. It has been brought to my attention the 12.4 percent of teams have a chance to make the playoffs starting 0-2, so the odds are not in our favor. Why not take this season to develop our draft class, and play for a true franchise QB. A guy by the name of Adrew Luck! Take Adrew Luck of off Stanfords football team and you do not have a #5 national ranking. Put him on the Chiefs and you got a NFL championship type offense. That alone is intriguing enough for me to hope and pray. Suck for Luck all the way!

Ok theres no way you cant root for the Chiefs. That goes without saying. But the embarrassing start and now bleak outlook after all the anticipation of this season is just taking its toll. If the blowouts continue Haley will be fired and the we will be as competitive as we can be without 25 and 29. But if for whatever reason we cant get it together until late and we still lose most of the games on the end of our ridiculous schedule the Andrew Luck is possible. And if you havent seen him play, do it. He destroyed Arizona saturday night with only tight ends on the field at times. Imagine him with the Killer B's, JC, and Moeaki. Plus he can get out of the pocket and run if he needs too. And he actually throws a football with the right delivery.

@RICK TORREY I know Haley is int the hot seat with a LOT of people but man its hard for me to call for his head...I know i konw 89-10 or something like that... The man took a gamble, lost, but the thing is, Haley is very passionate about the game people gave him hell in 2009 for being angry, I wish he would be more outwardly angry again. Haley does take gambles to give his team a chance to win they don't always pay off, but the thing his he is GIVING HIS TEAM A CHANCE TO WIN. 4 and 1 and you give the ball to a pro HB behind a pro FB and Line and they don't get it Todd put them in a position to either pass or fail and they failed...That was last year just in case you were wondering...I wont pull the plug on Haley or Cassel,,, yes i said Cassel

Just remember who we passed on the get Todd Blackledge. DAN MARINO! Think that would have changed our history? Listen, if we go 2-14 and play every rookie we have, plus infusing more young talent, this team will have a bright future. For every snap that Jones takes, it is a step backwards. Even if this team, by some miracle, gets competitive, they still will lose 11-12 games. Then what? 2-14 probably gets us Luck. Not saying that they should lay down. But for every win it is another week that Haley keeps his job.

o yea.... GO CHIEFS AND LONG LIVE ARROWHEAD!!!!

I would rather root for a team that won't ever give up EVER and end up 5-11 or 6-10 every year than a team that would lay down on purpose a 1-15 or 0-16 just to get the "guy". I'm sorry im 20 years old and the chiefs have been my team every one of those years. My car says number one fan, my keys jingle against the arrowhead, my living room was painted RED WHITE AND GOLD I have jerseys and t-shirts of the the chiefs handing on the wall, i don't do posters, six out of seven days of the week I wear chiefs memrobialiah (on saturday I have to wear my College outfit because I film for the football team) Kansas City would be letting the fans down if they gave up the season for just one guy, they would lose my respect, most important who would want to play for Kansas City after that? Oh those guys lost for a player, those guys are losers, which we would be. Errrrrr... I'm done ranting I guess just know I can not, will not, and shall not EVER ROOT FOR THE CHIEFS TO DO POORLY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry call me dumb call me stubborn call me whatever but NO! the thing is I HONESTLY don't think we are nearly as bad as we have been playing this year, also I think Luck = Leinart when it comes to NFL transition. Even if Luck was the next Payton Manning still NO. I want my team to COMPETE every year every down every moment of every game. I do not want to see the struggle EVER!!!! As for what is best over all for the team between "Suck for Luck" or actually showing faith in your players, really? Does anyone truelly believe that Losing = winning... Right now the Lions are doing alright but how man horrible unwatchable years did they have to go through to get there. So sorry no player that has ever walked onto the field IMO is worth rooting for my team to not be good to not try to win.

I think the main argument of those who want the Chiefs to lose isn't necessarily that the team lays down, but that they hope they continue to struggle in order to move forward. Sure duty and honor tells us that we can never, ever root for our team to lose. Then again, what is truly best for the Chiefs? Is it to go 5-11 and bring back Matt Cassel for another season or is it to go 2-14, draft Andrew Luck and begin a decade of winning. Of course, Luck is a lottery ticket. No player is a sure thing coming out of the draft. Missing on a QB can set your franchise back a long time. @JustinRGroth

NO!!!!! I'm sorry but never ever ever could I hope that we would do poorly I would rather see our boys rise above the adversity not lay down and say die
