Chiefs Worked Out Gerard Warren

facebooktwitterreddit

Last week we told you that the New England Patriots had released DE/NT Gerard Warren.

I made the argument that the Chiefs should take a look at Warren. Here is what I had to say:

Warren isn’t a guy you want starting anymore but he could be perfect as a situational pass rusher for the Chiefs. Neither Glenn Dorsey nor Tyson Jackson is very good at generating pressure. Warren is a guy that could come in to help get more of a push up front in passing situations. Plus Warren’s versatility along the defensive line is another quality the Chiefs value. He is listed at 330 and can play end or NT.

Warren’s 3.5 sacks from last season are more than Tyson Jackson has in his entire career…just saying.

Now, according to multiple reports, we are hearing the Chiefs did indeed work Warren out last week.

The Chiefs have an extra roster spot now that Jamaal Charles is on IR. Perhaps if they like what they saw last week, they will bring Warren in to help out with the pass rush. After all, it’s been another week and Tyson Jackson still sucks.

Besides, it’s not like things could get any worse. Right?
