Chiefs Release O’Connell, Bring Back Becht

Evidence that O'Connell did in fact catch a ball one time.

Another Scott Pioli draft pick bites the dust. The Kansas City Chiefs have announced that they have released TE Jake O’Connell and re-signed Anthony Becht.

From Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com via Twitter:

Veteran TE Anthony Becht re-joins #Chiefs. He was released after 1st practice of reg. season. Former 7th-round pick Jack O’Connell released

Fine by me. O’Connell has never done anything for the Chiefs other than take up a roster spot. I don’t know if Becht will be any better but he can’t be any more useless.

Smart of the Chiefs to wait until two days before the gamer rather than to do this in the beginning of the week so that they could work Becht into the game-plan. Besides, I’m sure they needed an extra four days to make sure O’Connell sucked before they cut the cord. Wait a minute…

Sigh. Another Irishman down. The Chiefs are going to have to sign me soon if they want to keep their Irish swag going. Thank god we still have McCluster and McClain. Oh Sean Ryan, where have ye gone.
