Cassel In Pads At Practice

Kansas City Chiefs QB Matt Cassel is in pads and on the field at Chiefs practice according to various media members in attendance.

Cassel’s status for Sunday’s season opener against the Buffalo Bills remains up in the air because of a cracked rib the QB suffered in the team’s preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers

I’ve never had a cracked rib before but if I had to guess I would say Cassel will be out on the field come Sunday. According to most, a cracked rib is more of a pain management issue. Other QB’s have player with cracked and even broken ribs in the past. Remember, Cassel returned to action last season just a week after having his appendix removed That was also a pain management issue. Cassel led the Chiefs to a victory over the St. Louis Rams in that game.

Don’t expect the Chiefs to give any indication of Cassel’s status until they absolutely have to. Chances are he will be listed as “questionable” leading up to the game. That way the Bills will at least have to look at some tape of backup QB Tyler Palko.

But make no mistake, when it is time to take the field, Cassel will probably be out there.
