Chiefs Fall To Rams 14-10, Move To 0-3 In Preseason

The Kansas City Chiefs turned in another ugly performance Friday night, falling to the Rams 14-10. The loss also means that the Chiefs will relinquish the coveted Governor’s Cup.

The Chiefs first team offense and defense looked mostly dreadful. The starting offense was not able to get anything done. The first team defense allowed two straight touchdown drives before LB Derrick Johnson picked off a Sam Bradoford pass to set up a KC FG.

The second half saw decent drives by Ricky Stanzi and Tyler Palko. Stanzi led a drive for the team’s only touchdown of the game. Palko came back i late in the 4th quarter to try to lead the Chiefs to victor. He got them all the way down to the red zonebut the Chiefs failed to punch it in. Instead, they went for a FG only to see it blocked.

The Rams then took the ball and ran out most of the clock. The Chiefs managed to stop the Rams to force a punt with 19 seconds left. Then, like a three stooges routine, the Chiefs jumped offsides twice to give the Rams a first down. St. Louis then laughed at the Chiefs and took a knee for the win.

We’ll have a ton more coverage tomorrow. For now, let me say that the Chiefs look like a big fat mess. Preseason or no preseason, the Chiefs do not look like a team preparing to play regular season football. They finished the game with eight penalties for -55 yards. There were some bright spots but those mostly came on individual efforts. As a team, the Chiefs look sloppy.
