Chiefs Links: Is Matt Cassel In Trouble?

Elliot Harrison of NFL.com thinks he is seeing a disturbing trend in Matt Cassel’s QB play.

Well, if we are gonna mention last year, then let’s take into account ALL of it — namely, the last two games.

» Week 17 — A 31-10 home loss to the Raiders. Cassel’s stat line: 11 of 33, 115 yards, zero touchdowns and two interceptions. That’s an abysmal 19.1 passer rating.

» Wild-card round — A 30-7 home loss to the Ravens. Cassel’s stat line: 9 of 18, 70 yards, no touchdowns and three interceptions. That procured a 20.4 passer rating.

While it is true that Cassel had kind of a rough end to the season last year, two bad games doesn’t make him a bad QB. The writer goes on to mention the preseason as a time where Cassel has also not performed well. Um, I hate to break it to this guy, but Cassel didn’t throw a pass in the first game. In the second game, he wasn’t great but he wasn’t terrible either.

I think Mr. Harrison is hitting the panic button a little too early. Check out his whole article and let us know what you think.
