I keep hearing how much more athletic Palko is than Stanzi, but I havent really had the chance to see it...Stanzi looked comfortable on the scramble last night, but quite frankly I would rather have a QB willing to stand in and make the throw. I feel Stanzi is a little more comfortable in the pocket and not as "dancy" as Palko. I know this is no reason to knock a guy, but it bothers me Palko is south-paw...Just sayin. Throws me off a bit. I think Stanzi has the arm and accuracy and will be our number two in time.
Here's the thing. I have no earthly idea if Palko is an okay backup or total garbage. Frankly, any QB that has to play with Chris Harr and Butch Lewis as two of his offensive linemen doesn't stand a chance of really running the offense as the plays are designed. Harr in particular is just horrible. The guy can handle a bull rush okay and run blocks alright, but any other pass rush move and the guy just goes right by him without even breaking stride. If Palko was playing with our first string line and WRs and had our top rushing attack to keep defenses honest who knows what he would look like. He could look like a solid back up like he did at times last night, or he could look like a skiddish, inacurate hack. I just don't know if we can really evaluate Palko or Stanzi with how terrible the protection has been for them overall.
Still.....not sure Palko is the answer if Cassel goes down. Isn't it more like we have two 3rd stringers. Just not sure what we have, yet.
I think we have ourselves one hell of a backup and one hell of a project to develop in our third stringer. ! Im very pleased.
Is there a pic or something? I cant see anything...
