Who Is Chris Manno?

facebooktwitterreddit

Ok, ok, I took a couple of shots at new Chiefs WR Chris Manno on Twitter after I learned of his signing but my sarcasm was more directed at Pioli than the player.

To be fair, I’ve started to do a little research on Chris and I am finding I kind of like this pickup. Manno didn’t start playing football until his junior year of high school. He was a walk-on at Hofstra. He struggled to get on the field and when he did, the results were not what you would call impressive. He finished his college career with a mere 25 receptions for 233 yards and one touchdown.

After college he decided he had a dream to play in the NFL so he began training and playing arena football. He did his training at the IMG Performance Institute where they have a nice write up about him.

Manno is likely just a training camp body but you can’t help but be intrigued a little by his story. To go from an underwhelming college career at a small school to getting a shot to make the Kansas City Chiefs, is impressive. The kid worked hard, is only 25 and actually has the physical gifts required of an NFL player.

But does he have the talent? Can he catch? Can he beat pro coverage?

No idea. But it will be kind of fun to watch him try.
