Chiefs Sign Ten Players

The headline sounds good but it is not as exciting as it looks.

The Chiefs announced they have signed ten players. Nine of them you know. The other is Steve Breaston.

From KCChiefs.com

"The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Friday that the club has signed eight unrestricted free agents: RB Jackie Battle, WR Steve Breaston, WR Terrance Copper, CB Travis Daniels, S Jon McGraw, T Ryan O’Callaghan, TE Leonard Pope and C Casey Wiegmann. The club also announced that FB Mike Cox signed his restricted free agent tender and S Reshard Langford signed his exclusive rights free agent tender."

Not exactly a thrilling group, is it?

One person of note missing from this list is our old friend Brodie Croyle. This doesn’t come as a surprise really but I suppose it is worth nothing. We’ll have to do a so long post for him tomorrow. The Coryle era is over…though I am not sure it ever started.

I am going to have to do some research to see what this puts the Chiefs roster at. Keep in mind this doesn’t mean they aren’t going to make any more free agent signings…it just means they aren’t likely to announce them tonight.

The good news? This means the Chiefs are pretty much free to look outside the organization for other free agents. Now that they have most of their own guys under contract, they can turn their attention to upgrading.

The bad news? We are still waiting on CB Brandon Carr, OT Barry Richardson and DE Wallace Gilberry to sign their tender offers. Also, don’t forget about Tamba Hali. He was given the franchise tag before the lockout. That will still hold now that there is to be a new CBA, however, the Chiefs are still working on a long term deal with the LB. But as far as I can remember, he hasn’t signed the offer yet.
