Rank the AFC West: RBs

facebooktwitterreddit

This is a thread for the Addicts among us.  Who among the AFC West sports the best RBs, and who sports the worst?

Vote in comments, and be sure to keep track of your votes as this series rolls on. It could be interesting to see how good you think each team is once you add up all your rankings.

The following are your depth charts at RB:

Denver Broncos: Knowshon Moreno, Laurence Maroney, Correll Buckhalter

Kansas City Chiefs: Jamaal Charles, Thomas Jones, Dexter McCluster

Oakland Raiders: Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, Taiwan Jones, Michael Bennett

San Diego Chargers: Ryan Mathews, Mike Tolbert, Darren Sproles, Jacob Hester, Jordan Todman

My vote after the jump. Yours is invited in comments.

1. Chiefs — The Chiefs feature the best run game in the league with the very best running back in the league. It’s hard to see Thomas Jones running for more than 600 yards this year, but Dexter McCluster was always better as a RB than a WR, and his full-time duties there will pick up more than just the slack.

2. Raiders — The Raiders continue to look amazing on paper. McFadden and Bush is one of the best one-two punches in the league.  And while the tread has vanished from Bennett’s tires, Taiwan Jones is as exciting a rookie as there is — watch out for this kid.

3. Chargers — The Chargers will hardly miss Ryan Mathews if he continues to disappoint.  Tolbert is my favorite non-Chiefs runner in the league, and Hester and Todman provide plenty of punishment for defensive lines. Sproles best days are behind him.

4. Broncos — Distant, distant fourth place, as this lineup provided the Broncos with nothing in 2010, and has not been updated.  Rumors are that John Fox wants to acquire DeAngelo Williams from the Panthers, so watch out.

So, assuming a 1st is 4 points, and a 4th is 1 point, this is my individual position scoreboard so far:

Chargers: 6
Chiefs: 6
Raiders: 4
Broncos: 4
