Rank the AFC West: QBs

facebooktwitterreddit

This is a thread for the Addicts among us.  Who among the AFC West sports the best QBs, and who sports the worst?

Vote in comments, and be sure to keep track of your votes as this series rolls on. It could be interesting to see how good you think each team is once you add up all your rankings.

The following are your depth charts:

Denver Broncos: Kyle Orton, Tim Tebow, Brady Quinn

Kansas City Chiefs: Matt Cassel, Ricky Stanzi, Tyler Palko

Oakland Raiders: Jason Campbell, Kyle Boller, Bruce Gradkowski, Charlie Frye

San Diego Chargers: Philip Rivers, Billy Volek

My vote after the jump. Yours is invited in comments.

1. Chargers — The Chargers have shallow depth but Rivers never misses a game, and is by far the best QB in the division.  Volek may not be a world-beater but he has an actual playoff victory under his belt.

2. Broncos — Kyle Orton had a really strong season throwing the ball with absolutely zero ground game to relieve him.  Tebow is a boom-or-bust project that impressed me last in the 2010 season, but it’s going to be tough to see how he fares when teams gameplan for him.  Quinn is a solid backup.

3. Chiefs — We’ve gone rounds on this site about Cassel, and while I love the guy, he has yet to prove he can be the guy when the chips are down.  Good starter, though.  Behind him, there’s zero depth as Stanzi has yet to play a down.

4. Raiders — The entire QB roster is guys who are hanging on to their NFL careers by a thread.

So, assuming a 1st is 4 points, and a 4th is 1 point, this is my individual position scoreboard so far:

Broncos: 3
Chiefs: 2
Raiders: 1
Chargers: 4
