“The Chiefs Kingdom has been greatly affected by the tornadoes in Joplin and Reading. Our hearts and prayers go out to the people affected by these disasters,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a statement.
The team will be working with various media partners and the Salvation Army to hold a bottled-water drive at Arrowhead Stadium on Tuesday and Wednesday, and will also be accepting financial donations.
“We were informed that bottled water is the most pressing need at this point,” Donovan said.
What’s most impressive about Flowers’ physical play and tackling ability is the fact he’s only 5’9, 187 pounds, that’s three inches and 20 pounds lighter than the corner who has the top tackling reputation, Green Bay Packers’ Charles Woodson (6’1, 200).
But Flowers can cover too (12th in the NFL in CB Success Rate) and when combined with fellow Chiefs CB Brandon Carr give Kansas City maybe one of the most underrated cornerback tandems in the NFL.
Consider the case of Tyson Jackson. If he were the Chiefs first round choice this year instead of 2009, the expectations would have been much lower and the spotlight not as bright. Instead, some fans have lost patience with the former LSU Tiger just two seasons into his career despite the time it takes to grow along an NFL defensive line. This has everything to do with rookie expectations meeting a team’s current scenario.
