Kansas City Chiefs first round draft pick Eric Berry played every single defensive snap last season. While he played well and showed himself to be very durable in his first season, the sheer number of games he played took a toll on his body.It is easy to forget that these rookies are used to playing far fewer games in college and against much softer competition.
Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star has a great piece up on the Red Zone blog with some interesting quotes from Berry.
”If we had another game, I would have made it and I would have been ready,” Berry said. ”But I have to tell you this: When the season was over, I didn’t do anything for about a month. I didn’t go out or do anything. I was supposed to go home (to Georgia) and I didn’t even book my flight. I just stayed in the house, watched TV. I just sat around the house. I wasn’t used to playing that many games. My body was just through afterwards.”
