Clark Hunt Snubbed In ESPN.com’s Owner Rankings

Not that it matters but Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt did not receive a single top ten vote from any of the analysts voting in ESPN.com’s Owner Power Rankings.

Everyone loves power rankings and nobody knows that better than ESPN. They’ve been doing weekly offseason power rankings of specific NFL positions recently and this week they ranked their top ten owners.

Here are the ranks:

1Rooney Family
2Robert Kraft
3Packers Exec. Comm.
4Mara/Tisch
5Jeffrey Lurie
6Steve Bisciotti
7Jim Irsay
8Jerry Jones
9Arthur Blank
10Woody Johnson

Some thoughts after the jump.

Basically the way ESPN does it is that each analyst ranks their top ten and then each ranking is assigned some points. Whoever gets the most points wins.

Hunt did not receive a single vote.

While I am shocked that Hunt didn’t receive some cred from anyone, I can understand it.Clark is relatively new on the block and while it appears he made the right decision in hiring Scott Pioli, his NFL resume is still very, very bare.

If his father Lamar were still around, he surely would have received some votes and may have ended up in the top ten. That being said, Clark is not Lamar and this is probably a good reminder for us as fans not to view him as such. Lamar did a lot of great things that earned him the respect of his colleagues and the admiration of the KC fans. Clark still has a long way to go and while I am not thrilled with all of the moves he has made since taking over, I’m certainly rooting for him.
