Chiefs CB Javier Arenas Rode Out Tuscaloosa Tornado In His Bathtub
Kansas City Chiefs CB Javier Arenas often finds himself in the path of oncoming ball carriers and blockers on the football field but the last thing he expected was to find himself in the path of a tornado.
Unfortunately for Arenas and the good folks of Tuscaloosa, that is exactly what happened last week.
The Chiefs CB’s Alabama home was apparently very close to the tornado when it hit and Arenas was home by himself. Birmingham News has the story.
“So I look out my window and see it’s at Forest Lake,” said Arenas. “So I’m looking for about 10 seconds and realized it was coming straight towards where I was at. So I got on the phone with my friend, hid in the tub, and for about a minute and forty five seconds it was the worse sounds you could hear.
“I got it good but I didn’t get the heart of it, so to speak. I was real blessed. It was a life-changing experience. It just sounds like a freight train of gun shots hitting your garage, windows breaking and your belongings in places you never imagined they would have been.”
Thankfully Javier and his home were spared.
Like a true Chief, Arenas has been helping his neighbors by transporting supplies to the area. Check out the video of Javier talking about the disaster.
