Chiefs Preseason Schedule Released, Includes Nationally Televised Game

The NFL has released the preseason schedules and the Kansas City Chiefs will start things off on the right foot at Arrowhead Stadium in front of a national audience.

According to Josh Looney of KCChiefs.com, KC’s first preseason game will take place on Friday,  August 12th at home. The opponent will be the NFC’s surprise team of 2010, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

After the Chiefs spank the Bucs on national television, they travel to Baltimore to avenge their playoff defeat at the hands of the Ravens. The date and time is yet to be determined.

Once they put the Ravens in their place, the boys in red will return home to Arrowhead to defend the Governor’s Cup against interstate rival St. Louis. Date and time TBD.

Finally, after securing the hardware, the Chiefs will travel to Wisconsin for a warmup game against the defending Super Bowl Champion Green Bay Packers. The Chiefs will meet the Packers later in the season when the games count.Date and time TBD.

The fact that the Chiefs are seeing time on national television this preseason shows that the NFL has taken note of their return to prominence and is likely a sign of things to come. Along with being a playoff team themselves, the Chiefs take on a number of popular teams that the NFL loves to put on TV in 2011. With against the Packers, Bears, Steelers and Patriots the Chiefs are likely to find themselves on national TV more than once.
