Chiefs To Work Out WR Leonard Hankerson
Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel is reporting via Twitter that the Kansas City Chiefs will hold a private workout with former Miami receiver Leonard Hankerson.
"UM WR Leonard Hankerson, who is moving up the draft fast, said his 1st of many scheduled workouts will be with the Chiefs."
Hankerson is shooting up draft boards and he is a very popular pick among AA readers. Back on February 22nd, I started our Chiefs Draft Prospects series where we feature different players the team might be interested in drafting. The very first player we profiled was Hankerson.
Here is what I had to say about Hankerson on the 22nd:
"This is the one that really stands out to me. Cris Carter was this kid’s high school receivers coach. As you know, Todd Haley got Carter to help mentor Dwayne Bowe all throughout last season and you saw how that worked out. There are a lot of physical similarities between Bowe and Hankerson and it would likely help the rookie to watch a guy like Bowe go to work in practice.The fact that he demonstrates work ethic and maturity will likely be highlighted wherever this kid falls on the Chiefs’ draft board. If he is there when the Chiefs draft in the second round I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they took a chance on him."
Back then, Hankerson was looking like a 2nd round pick but now it is much more likely he will go sometime in round one. He almost certainly will be gone before KC picks in the second round.
