Today on the internet a couple of videos have been making the rounds that feature folks figuring out just what the internet was in t\he early days of the internet.

Today we spend a great deal of our lives connecting with each other via the internet so it is kind of funny to think that not long ago people didn’t even know what the heck it was. The video below will kind of blow your mind and what I really find interesting about it is that you hear the guy mention the sports as one of the things he likes to talk about with people on the internet. Even way back at the beginning, the seeds were being planted for the sports blogosphere we enjoy today.

Check out the video below. It is perfect evening viewing.

After the jump, check how this hilarious video of Katie Couric asking someone what the internet is on the Today Show.

Paddy's Pot of Gold

I spent the morning writing an article about how the Pro Bowl doesn’t matter and now I am going to spend the afternoon writing an article about how the Kansas City Chiefs players, especially Jamaal Charles, may have gotten some important recognition by playing well in the game that didn’t matter.

While what was done on the field in the Pro Bowl is largely irrelevant, it can be a good opportunity for players to get their name out in the public eye so that they can win more Pro Bowl births and awards in the future. This is especially key for guys who play on a team like the Chiefs who have not had a lot of success in recent years. When a team is losing, especially if that team is not in a large market, they often are left out of the NFL’s nationally televised games. This makes it difficult for good players on bad teams to become household names.

The Chiefs had only one nationally televised game last season and it was in Week 1 on Monday Night Football. The game was more of a gift from the NFL than an indication of the league’s high expectations for the KC’s 2010 season. The NFL regularly rewards clubs with new stadiums or major renovations a national game to show off their new digs. Be assured that without the New Arrowhead, there would have been no Monday Night Football for the Chiefs.

We all want to believe we know what we’re talking about. We want to trust our instincts, feel secure in our football intelligence, and know that our years of watching this team give us an insight into how it operates. That should be how it works, right? And to some extent, it does. There are definitely varying levels of Chiefs knowledge, and football knowledge in general. But no matter how much we think we know, or how smart we think we are, we’re still wrong all the time.

And it isn’t just us. Talking heads, announcers, journalists, nobody can predict game outcomes with any consistency. Experts’ preseason predictions are inevitably laughable. Even GMs, those few choice slimeballs at the absolute top level of the football hierarchy, make horrendous mistakes every year. The draft has been in existence for over 70 years and its still a total crapshoot. Check out the car Tyson Jackson is driving if you don’t believe me.

Everyone loves to shout it from the rooftops when they get something right. Understandable. But its important to acknowledge the other side too. I am wrong about many things every season. The IWW Awards is my annual acknowledgment of that. So without further ado, here are my biggest Chiefs gaffes from the year 2010:
