The Morning Fix

Hali was one of the bigger Pro Bowl snubs in the league when the original team was announced in December. Hali finished the season with 14.5 sacks. This, conceivably, could be Hali’s final game wearing a Kansas City helmet. He is a prospective free agent. But I’d be shocked if the Chiefs didn’t give him a long-term deal or give him the franchise tag. Hali is a cornerstone player in Kansas City.

Wragge reported Byrd’s accident happened on Nov. 29, 1992. The New York Jets were facing the Kansas City Chiefs in a relatively uneventful game when 23 seconds into the third quarter — No. 90, defensive end Dennis Byrd — crashed into a teammate.

Byrd was rushed to the hospital, where he learned he had suffered a broken neck and was paralyzed from the waist down.

Kansas City Chiefs’ running back Jamaal Charles and wideout Dwayne Bowe are already joining four other Kansas City players on the AFC’s roster for Sunday’s Pro Bowl, and on Monday, the duo received an even higher honor.

Charles, who finished second in the NFL with 1,467 yards rushing and an outstanding 6.4 yards-per-carry average, was named AP first-team All-Pro.
