The Morning Fix

The Chiefs announced the move Thursday and said he will replace New England’s Tom Brady, who is reportedly having foot surgery this week to repair a stress fracture.

It will be the first Pro Bowl for Cassel, who started 15 games last season for the AFC West champions, completing 262 of 450 passes for 3,116 yards with a career-high 27 touchdowns and only seven interceptions. He missed a game following an appendectomy.

We asked Kansas City fans what they felt about the job coach Todd Haley has done. There was talk that there is a faction of Chiefs’ fans who want Haley fired.

I found that odd since the team has improved under Haley and was a surprise winner of the AFC West this season. I asked Chiefs’ fans if they want Haley to be fired and it’s pretty clear that most do not feel that way. It seems Kansas City fans feel the team is headed in the right direction under Haley. I couldn’t agree more.

The Chiefs accomplished the biggest one-season turnaround in franchise history, going from a rather dismal 4-12 in 2009 to an AFC West-clinching 10-6 record this season. And it all started with a madness-inducing Monday Night Football appearance in Week 1 in which the the Chiefs edged out the cocky San Diego Chargers to christen the “New Arrowhead.”

The second guard to make the team is Will Shields. He spent his entire 14 year carer playing for the Kansas City Chiefs and didn’t miss a single game in that time, not bad for a third round pick. He made 12 consecutive Pro Bowl from 1995 to 2006, the year he retired.
