Chiefs Holding Court In The AFC West

facebooktwitterreddit

The Kansas City Chiefs blasted the Seattle Seahawks Sunday 42 to 24 and for another week at least, they will sit atop the AFC West.

The Oakland Raiders, who briefly joined the Chiefs atop the AFC West, lost Sunday to the Miami Dolphins, dropping their record to 5-6. The Raiders are by no means out of the AFC West race but with games remaining against the Colts, Jaguars, Chargers and Chiefs, their path to the postseason has to be the most difficult of all their division foes.

The Denver Broncos pretty much eliminated themselves from the discussion Sunday, falling to 3-8 on the season. They will travel to Kansas City next week and will face a hot Chiefs team looking to avenge the 49-29 whooping the Broncos laid on them a few weeks ago.

Lastly, the San Diego Chargers are currently locked in a battle on the road with the Indianapolis Colts. The Chargers are 5-5 and are making their usual late season charge. Unfortunately for the Chargers, the Chiefs don’t appear to be ready to collapse in the second half of the season as the Denver Broncos did a year ago.

If the Chargers can manage to defeat the Colts, they will move to 6-5 and will stay within one game of the division leading Chiefs. If they they lose, they will fall to 5-6 and will trail the Chiefs by 2 games with 5 to play.
