The Arrowhead Addict Fan Quiz

facebooktwitterreddit

The Kansas City Chiefs are back on top of the standings in the AFC West. Coming off a convincing 31-13 victory over the Arizona Cardinals the general “mood” of Chiefs fans has stabilized after the downswing that came along with back to back loses to AFC West rivals. However, there is still a divide amongst Chiefs fans about just how good this team (and some of its star players) is. In the end, it often comes down to a fan’s individual outlook. Some are “homers”, some “realists”, and some are labeled “haters”. So I thought it might be fun to come up with a test for the readers of Arrowhead Addict to take to see just what kind of fan you are. This is what I came up with.

The test is made up of 10 questions about your outlook on the Chiefs and some of their players. For each question you will rate yourself on a scale of zero to ten “homer” points. For each question I have provided sample answers that I think represent 10 points, 5 points, and 0 points so that you have a guide to help with your scoring. At the end you’ll add up your total score from all 10 questions and use the guide to see what kind of fan you are.

I may have made it sound more complicated then it really is, so let’s just get started.

Remember, you can rate yourself from zero to ten, but I have only provided examples for 10, 5, and 0. If your outlook is somewhere between the 10 point answer and the 5 point answer, you might give yourself a 7 or 8. You get the idea. Here we go.

1. What is your outlook on Matt Cassel?
10 – Matt Cassel is THE MAN! His QB rating and touchdown to interception ratio are proof that he is doing exactly what the Chiefs want him to do. He is the long term answer at QB and anyone criticizing him in any way is just a “hater”.
5 – Matt Cassel is an okay starting NFL QB. He’s not losing games for the Chiefs, but he’s not really winning them either. His accuracy and long ball are not great. He’s the best option the Chiefs have for now, but the Chiefs will eventually need to look elsewhere in the future.
0 – Matt Cassel is terrible. His stats only look good because the Chiefs “baby” him with safe play calling. He has a “limp noodle” for an arm and the accuracy of a NFL backup QB. The Chiefs must get a new QB ASAP in order to be a playoff caliber team.

2. What do you think of the KC rushing attack?
10 – I LOVE the KC running back situation. The Chiefs are number one in rushing and both Thomas Jones and Jamaal Charles are on pace for over 1,000 yards. The split of the workload/carries has been perfect. They shouldn’t change a thing.
5 – Overall, I’m happy with the rushing attack. I don’t have a major problem with the split of carries, but I’d like to see Charles get a few more touches, especially in “key” situations and with the game on the line.
0 – Thomas Jones is a bum. Every carry they give him is a waste of a play that should be going to Jamaal. He’s basically Larry Johnson without the attitude and inflated paycheck.

3. What do you think about Dwayne Bowe?
10 – Dwayne Bowe is a legit number one wide receiver. He makes big plays and scores TDs. What more do you need? Yes, they could use a number two WR to play opposite him, but the Chiefs have their pro bowl WR already on the roster. Bowe will continue to improve and will put up monster numbers.
5 – Dwayne Bowe is a very talented but inconsistent WR. I’m glad he’s on the Chiefs, but would like to see them get a WR with more speed and better hands to be a true number one WR.
0 – Butterfingers Bowe will continue to cost the Chiefs games as long as he is the one that they are counting on in key situations. On a team with real NFL caliber WRs he would be exposed for what he really is, a bonehead who is wasting a lot of athletic ability.

4. What do you think of the job Charlie Weis is doing this year as offensive coordinator?
10 – Charlie Weis has enough Super Bowl rings to silence any critics. He deserves the bulk of the credit for our improved run game and the fact that Matt Cassel has 18 TDs and only 4 interceptions. I have no problem with his play calling.
5 – Overall the offense has been better this year and Weis deserves credit for that. Matt Cassel has improved under his guidance. That having been said, some of the play calls (especially on third down) have left me scratching my head. I’m not breaking out the torch and pitchfork, but would like to see improvement as the season goes on.
0 – The only thing Charlie Weis knows how to call is the pizza delivery guy. This guy rode Tom Brady’s coat tails to the Notre Dame job and the Chiefs should have never hired him.

5. What do you think about first round draft picks Glenn Dorsey and Tyson Jackson?
10 – It takes defensive linemen (not named Suh) a few years to develop. Dorsey is becoming a beast and anchors the Chiefs defensive line. Jackson has shown some promise and I still have faith that he will be a good player. They play a position that isn’t flashy and doesn’t rack up a lot of stats and that is why people are down on them.
5 – Dorsey has been average and Jackson is a disappointment so far. Dorsey is an average starting defensive lineman, but not a dominant player yet like you would want out of a top five draft pick. Jackson can’t even beat out Shaun Smith right now so he has some work to do to even have a future with the team. I’m not happy, but not giving up hope.
0 – Bust and buster. Dorsey is mediocre at best and definitely not worth the draft pick. Tyson Jackson is Ryan Sims with better hair.

6. What do you think of this year’s first round draft pick Eric Berry?
10 – Berry is going to be a pro bowl player for years to come and was 100% the right draft pick for the Chiefs. He is smart, a hard worker, and a physical “freak of nature”. He has already improved the run game and as he gains experience the mistakes in coverage will disappear.
5 – I still like the Berry pick. He has been great in run support but I have been disappointed in his coverage skills. I think he’ll get better, but to be honest, he’s been a let down. It’s a good thing he seems to be a “good guy” or I might already be turning on him.
0 – First off, YOU DON’T DRAFT A SAFETY IN THE TOP FIVE!!! Second, he’s not even the best rookie safety. Earl Thomas and Nate Allen both look like better players. We already had a physical safety that couldn’t cover anybody and we cut him. He’s another blown first round draft pick.

7. What do you think of the 2010 Chiefs’ defense?
10 – The defense is SO much better then it was the last few years. They are better against the run and pass and are allowing fewer points per game. They have one of, if not the best defensive coordinators in the league in Romeo Crennel and they have several young talented players who will only get better. I’m excited about the defense.
5 – The defense has improved, but I’m still not convinced. The pass defense has been exposed on multiple occasions. The run defense is better, but not great and we need another pass rusher to help Tamba Hali out. There is hope for the future, but right now I think they are just okay.
0 – The defense is still a major problem. They have been helped out by playing some terrible offenses. We have three solid starters in Brandon Flowers, Tamba Hali, and Derrick Johnson and the rest are all below league average or worse. Good offenses will continue to pick them apart.

8. What is your outlook on Head Coach Todd Haley?
10 – Todd Haley deserves a huge amount of credit for our improved team. His demanding and aggressive style is just what this young Chiefs team needed. Haley will be with the Chiefs for a long time and I trust him 100% to lead this team to a Super Bowl.
5 – Todd Haley has done a lot of good things as head coach but has also made a lot of mistakes. Overall, I’m happy but I think he could do a better job both with how he treats people and how he manages a game.
0 – Todd Haley is a jerk. He treats the players like garbage and his antics are an embarrassment to the Kansas City Chiefs. His ridiculous “gambles” are costing the team points. I give him one more season and then he’ll be gone.

9. What do you think of the job Scott Pioli has done as General Manager?
10 – He has turned a 2-14 joke of a team into a 6-4 division leader in under two years. Not only that, but the roster is full of young talent that will only get better. The Chiefs hit a home run when they hired Scott Pioli and he will be the one to build a Super Bowl winner in Kansas City.
5 – Overall I’m happy with the job Pioli has done and the results on the field. That having been said there have been some mistakes. The Jackson pick looks suspect at best and the Cassel contract was probably too much. I still trust him as the GM but he’s far from perfect.
0 – This guy built his reputation by riding Bill Belichick’s coat tails and now he is getting credit for the Chiefs turnaround even though it is Peterson’s players that are leading the charge (Charles, Flowers, Hali, Johnson, etc.). This guy is over rated.

10. What do you think of the 2010 Kansas City Chiefs?
10 – The Chiefs will win at least 10 games. They will win the AFC West and will host and win a playoff game. The Chiefs are back baby!
5 – The Chiefs will be around .500. They won’t make the playoffs, but they are much improved from last year. There is still a ways to go, but I am happy with the improvement.
0 – The Chiefs aren’t much better then they were last year. The improved record is a result of a few lucky breaks and a much easier schedule this season. They are a LONG ways from being a real contender in the AFC.

Okay, now take a minute and total up your score from all 10 questions.

Here is your rating scale:

100 – 81 points: Total Homer
You see no wrong when you look at your beloved Chiefs. You always support the Chiefs in everything they do. Love is blind, right? CHIEFS RULE BABY!!! WOOOOOO!!!!

80 – 61 points: Mr. Positive
You tend to give your team the benefit of the doubt. You aren’t blind to things that are going wrong, but you tend to have faith that they will work out in the end. When you love a team this much, why be negative?

60 – 41 points: Level Headed
You don’t let your “fan” status affect your judgment when it comes to the Chiefs. You don’t bash guys when things go wrong, but you don’t ignore it either. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, but it’s not all doom and gloom either. It is what it is.

40 – 21 points: Skeptic
You tend to doubt things even when they may seem to be going well. If you have to choose between questioning what’s going on or giving the team the benefit of the doubt you choose to question things every time. You may love the Chiefs, but they have to earn your approval.

20 – 0 points: Hater
Very little about the Chiefs ever makes you happy. Even when they win you focus on what they didn’t do well. People call you a Negative Nancy, Debbie Downer, Mr. Grumpy Pants, take your pick. You probably hate this classification. In fact you probably hate this quiz and hate me for writing it.

So what do you think? Please post your score in the comments so we can see how most of the AA readers view the team. Also, let me know if you think the quiz is accurate. Am I being unfair? Is the quiz biased to one side or the other? I’d love to hear your feedback.

My score was a 67, which seems about right to me. I’m positive but bordering on level headed. How about you?

As always, thanks for reading and GO CHIEFS!
