The Morning Fix: Donkey Punch Edition

In this totally zany division, I’m staying with my prediction from September when the Chargers looked totally disinterested in getting back to the playoffs. I’m rolling with Todd Haley and the Kansas City Chiefs. So it’s a bust.

The linebacker and defensive co-captain was charged with driving under the influence after being arrested in Denver early Friday morning, just hours before he was supposed to report to work at Dove Valley.

The Broncos also stripped him of his captaincy for the season after he missed practice and a meeting Friday when he was in a detox facility, the team said Saturday.

Ford had six receptions for 148 yards including key catches in the game-tying drive at the end of regulation and the game-winning drive at the end of overtime in addition to a 94-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the Raiders’ 23 – 20 overtime win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

“I told him, in the N.F.L. it’s very rare for a punter to come in and have a job and keep going,” said Dustin, who has done exactly that through a six-year stint with the Chiefs. “He knew when you’re an undrafted free agent like that, anything can happen. And so he just kept a positive attitude.”

“At this point in college, I’d be done,” Berry said. “I’d be getting ready for the bowl game, getting ready to take my finals, meeting with my professors. But now I’ve got eight games left to go.

“It’s not intimidating, but we have eight games left and possibly more. That’s going to be a big adjustment. The first half of the season seemed like it took forever to finish, and we have another whole half-season to go.”
