“It’s your hometown team, and you think if you ever get the opportunity to do this, it would be pretty awesome. I feel blessed to have an opportunity to get the chance to play with a team that is doing so well right now and is going in the right direction, and it’s my hometown team.”
“I understood exactly where Todd was coming from; he and I were on different pages, and he wanted to do it the way he wanted to do it, and I understand that completely,” Gailey said. “I’ve been there. I know exactly what was going on. There’s no hard feelings, it’s business, I understand it. You go on with life. That’s the way it is.”
“He had some carries, which I was excited about,” Haley said. “That’s something that I really wanted to see happen. When you have some real good running backs, like we do, somebody with maybe some different abilities can get lost in the shuffle.”
On his final play, McCluster caught a short pass in the fourth quarter, dancing around a defender before getting hit hard by Jaguars cornerback Derek Cox.
Too bad running backs Jamaal Charles (489 rushing yards) and Thomas Jones (461) can’t combine and get some votes. Kansas City has the No. 1-ranked running game in the NFL and Jones and Charles are leading this offense together.
