Experts Picking The Chiefs

This may come as a surprise to most of you as the experts have not been very fond of the Kansas City Chiefs in weeks past but this week at least, the Chiefs are the popular pick.

All of ESPN’s experts, save a delusional Ron Jaworski, are picking the Chiefs to beat the Jaguars this Sunday.

This is a big change as the Chiefs, despite starting the season 3-0, have been underdogs all season.

I guess I can kind of see the logic. The Chargers deserved to be favored in Week 1. They were the defending AFC Champs and were facing a Chiefs team that had finished 4-12 the year before.

Week 2 saw the Chiefs going to Cleveland to take on the Browns, a team that had beaten them a few months earlier. Folks still weren’t sold on the Chiefs and gave the Browns the home field advantage.

Week 3 was when the Chiefs started to get people’s attention. The 49ers, though they had gotten off to a slow start, were expected to march in to Arrowhead and get their season back on track. Instead, the Chiefs sent them marching right back to San Francisco with an 0-3 record.

Weeks 4 and 5 saw the Chiefs on the road taking on two AFC favorites in the Indianapolis Colts and the Houston Texans. While the Chiefs had a chance to win both games they weren’t able to close the deal.

Strangely, it appears that their two losses are the games in which the Chiefs have earned the most respect. Now that the Chiefs are regarded as a good team, they should find themselves favored more often as long as they continue their solid play.

It is very possible that the Chiefs will be favorites in their next two games against the Bills and the Raiders and even possibly on the road in Denver.
