The Morning Fix

“Monday Night Football” returns to Kansas City for the first time since 2004 tonight when the Chiefs officially open a renovated Arrowhead Stadium against the Chargers.

Jones is 32 years old, and that might as well be 132 for an NFL running back. This is his 11th NFL season, the Chiefs his fifth NFL team despite rushing for nearly 6,400 yards the last five years. He has felt wronged, disrespected, overlooked and underestimated but never let any of it show in public.

With Thomas Jones, Jamaal Charles and perhaps even Jackie Battle in their backfield at various times, the Chiefs are capable of coming at the Chargers with a variety of styles and sticking with the one that works. That variety will make the Chiefs difficult for any opponent to deal with. The Chargers were once strong against the run but fell off greatly in that department last season.
