Arrowhead Adventures! Truman Sports Complex, Okalhoma Joes, and My Upcoming Trip to Training Camp

by Chiefs

I attended a recent Cardinals –  Royals game at “The K” , man what a great ballpark. Royals Stadium , combined with Arrowhead, is still one of the best sports complexes in the nation in my humble opinion.

As I looked through the top fence at Arrowhead, I saw a completely revamped stadium as well. I can’t wait for the Monday night season opener. What especially caught my eye is the fact that the memorial bricks are almost completely laid, yes your Arrowhead Adventurer’s  name will appear for posterity at Arrowhead.

While in KC, my girl and I made it a point stop at the highly touted by AA readers Oklahoma Joes, and finally made it to the newer restaurant style location, not the one in the gas station. I  have to report a “ho hum” as far as the combo plate goes, portions were on the light side compared to Arthur Bryants and LC’s, just not what Im used too, I’m quite possibly spoiled. My girlfriend loved the unique bbq sandwich with cole slaw on the bun right along with the pulled pork. If the original location is better, let a brother know!

By the way, I cannot be the only one who thinks that Patricks interviews kick ass! I think its safe to say we can look for more of that along with exclusive photos from the 2010 games. AA is the best Chiefs site on the web today gang, and we should all be proud of that.

Brokers are listing tickets as low as $13.99 for regular season games, what a cheap way to spend a Sunday afternoon! I do not see those going much lower during the season, I see them skyrocketing should KC have the start I think they are going to. If so you could see prices for those same tickets blasting to $60-$70 range. Combine that with a mild winter, they could go over a hundred.

Training camp is coming up Addicts, your Arrowhead Adventurer God willing, will be there a day or two.  You can expect photos and updates exclusive to Arrowhead Addict so keep it tuned here!  Other than that, not much going on . Until next Friday, Randy out!!!

Cant argue with that Zach

If you want BBQ in KC I would go to Jacks and get the Jack Sampler platter with baked beans and either the cheesy potato or corn bake. Hands down mouth dropping! or Bryants or Gates for a good ole' bbq brisket sandwich with strawberry soda and fries!

DAN!!!! Your in for the time of your life. Lucky you! If you need tickets, the Jacksonville game tickets are selling for less than any of the year! Take my advice, if you do not have any yet, BUY THEM NOW! Tailgating tips could go on forever. They usually let you in earlier than the sign posts, so get there early! I think it will say 9am this year, maybe 8 am. If you cook or bring BBQ in, set up again after the game, and gorge until the traffic lets up! Cold BBQ at ARROWHEAD is better than hot fresh BBQ anywhere else on earth. LC's opens at 9am on game day, Arthur Bryant's at 10am. As for your dinner choices, I say upscale the choice is Jack Stack. Strictly quality, go with Arthur Bryant's, Gates, or LC's. When I'm overnighting, (like I will be doing at the Monday Night game), I stay at the Plaza. Let me know if you have any other questions I think we will focus on this next Friday so watch for it! Charlie, Im dead tired, I just rolled in, I stayed up just for you and Dan, you can blast any misspellings tomorrow. You gotta be a good egg Charlie, your an Arrowhead Addict!

Charlie, I have been going to KC and seeing the Royals and Chiefs since the late seventies. I have been eating BBQ from KC longer. We all have jobs here, we all hurry too fast sometimes. Arrowhead Addicts are a family, when the occasional mistake is made, we look past it and focus on the content of our heartfelt posts and subsequent commentary. As for my mistake, I shall certainly be willing to look past your attempts at written communication if you would be willing to overlook my misspelling which I take full responsibility for, no excuses. As for your comments about my taste in BBQ, I forgot more about KC BBQ than you ever knew old man. Your a good egg, Charlie, you gotta be, your an Arrowhead Addict!

Ok, Randy and others... I am a life long, die hard Chiefs fan. But I have NEVER been to Arrowhead in my life. Been to Royals Stadium a few times to see George and Bo, but haven't been to KC since. Anyway, my wonderful wife has surprised me with a trip to KC to see my Chiefs this year. I'm coming to see them play the Jags on Oct 24. Just coming in for the weekend. I need your help on two things...first and most importantly, Arrowhead Stadium's tailgating is legendary. What tips do you have for me so that we can experience this as part of the gameday experience? Secondly, Saturday night before, I want to take her out for the best BBQ in KC. Where am I going? Thanks in advance! p.s. It may be too late in the night to get many responses, so I may post this again on your next "Adventure" post.

Granted us senile old farts get upset when a writer can't even get the name of Royals stadium right. "Randy5k" original story called the "K", the "Kaughman." I think old Ewing would be turning over in his grave to have his name butchered so badly. As far as the "tyou" is concerned, with the t and y next to each other on the keyboard, big fingers sometimes strike both keys, especially by us old farts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Maybe Randy5k is an old fart and can't type either!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That better Charlie? What is tyou by the way?

Where did tyou watch the ball game????????????? Where the hell is KAUGHMAN???????????????? You really know a lot about KC, don't you ????????????????? BBQ is not what you ate at that inferior place, whereever it is. Real KC BBQ lovers know where to go to get BBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good use of question marks here. Very good indeed.
