Jarrad Page Has Until Midnight To Sign Tender

It isn’t now or never for Jarrad Page and the Chiefs but it could be now or never for Page getting a decent payday.

If he does not sign his tender by midnight tonight, the Chiefs will be able to reduce the tender offer. If they do so or even if they don’t, Page is still stuck. He either must sign and get to work or he can not play. If Page holds our into the season, he will have until week 10 to sign. If he fails to do so, he will not be able to play again for the rest of the season.

If that happens, the Chiefs will still hold his rights and he will be a restricted free agent again next year.

I understand Page is upset but this is just stupid. I am not saying it is fair but Page has limited options here. In fact, he has no options. He was only average at best when he was playing though he did have tremendous upside. After being injured most of last season, if he sits out the year, he isn’t going to get any money if he ever gets to become a free agent. No one is going to give a big payday to a guy who was average a few years back but hasn’t played football in a year and a half.

He is either going to be stuck in limbo or the Chiefs are going to cut him sooner or later. Even if they do, I doubt he will get much more a year than the Chiefs are offering him at this point. He might get a longer contract but I don’t know if anyone will want to sign him long term, especially coming off a season on IR.

Take my advice Jarrad. Take the millions and get your ass to work.
