Game Day Rituals

It may seem far away but before we know it, the Chiefs will be hitting the field for Monday Night Football.

I am going to be making my first ever trip to Arrowhead Stadium this fall for Monday Night Football. Living in NYC, this will be a big departure for how I normally watch the Chiefs.

Being an out of towner, I take in the games at The Village Pour House in the East Village. There is a strong (when we are winning) contingent of Chiefs fans who show up to cheer on the Red and Gold.

I normally start my day with a large cup of coffee (for the early games) and a couple of games of Madden. I usually play whatever team we are playing that day and I enjoy crushing them.

Next I pick out my jersey and hat combination for the day and head out to the bar. I usually start with a Bloody Mary before switching to a pitcher of beer. The Pour House has some fantastic wings and a mouthwatering Smoke House Burger I find it hard to resist. After the Chiefs lose win, we go out to a couple of more bars to celebrate.

This year will be different for me as it will be my first full season running AA. I still haven’t come up with how I am going to cover the games for you guys but you can bet I will be live at the Pour House for most of them.

Thus, my question to you for this evening is, what is your game day ritual? Whether it be at home or at the stadium, sound off and tell us how you watch the Chiefs!

Oh the morning of chiefs games are more exciting then any holiday we get the truck loaded up around 530 am and head to arrowhead. On the way we usually Talk about our memories of historic games like when priest walked Into the endzone breaking records. Or dante running a kick back its things like that that make me love kc so much more. Once we arrive start opening beer and start cooking, get the lucky Thomas jersey out and start my Christmas.

Usually up at 0600 then off to get a haircut. Every good Marine gets a haircut on Sunday! Back home to get the pot of Chiefs game day chili ready. In Oklahoma its hard to buy beer on Sunday's so I usually already have it in the fridge and nice and cold. I will turn on the tv and go to CBS pregame. Cant stand Fox but I will flip to NFLN when Sharpe is on talking about the Donkeys. Once the smell of chili is in the air I will jump in the shower then get out and get my jersey (a different one if we lost the week prior) and hat and shorts on. I then put on my neon light, crack open a beer and check online for injury reports and such. After that its almost game time so I call the family in Missouri and make sure they are home from church and ready to watch. After we all decide that the Chiefs are going to win and get pumped up I sit down and start hitting the beer and waiting for the game. Hopefully this year on my vacation I will get to check out the pourhouse this time and try that burger it sounds awesome!

Nice routine. Hope to see you are the Pour House this year. The Smoke House Burger rocks.

Thanks PA. I sent you an email this morning, going to be in the city within the next month and was wondering if you frequent the pourhouse even in the offseason?

MDM 1984- I was at that game in SD back in 07'. We trailed by I think 13 points at the half and just came out on fire after that. To date, that has been Bowe's best game, 8 grabs for 163 yds I believe. Our secondary played excellent in that game as I recall. Page was shutting down Gates and their big recievers, and Tye Law was the recipient of a shitty P. Rivers throw. I was in the luxury suite too, so I started yelling Billy Volek's name when Rivers began to struggle. I'll never forget it. Like you said my friend...epic. Been to 3 games in SD for the Chiefs, and we are 3-0 for all of them. I like them odds.

It seems us Chiefs fans have more in common than we know. I start my Chiefs Sundays after midnight over here in Southern California by whoopin up on whoever we are playing that week on Madden also. But I haven't purchased a new Madden since Vince Young was on the 08' cover. That game was based on the 2006 Chiefs, our last whiff at a successful season, so I don;t want to buy another Madden game until we have another good season, so its gonna have to be Madden 2012, which will be based on 2010 season. Anyway, I digress. So I seriously consider each Sunday in football season a blessing from God, and I tell my friends that I basically have Christmas once a week during the season. That's how much I love watching our boys. Like I said, I'm here in Cali, so games start at 10am most of the time. As far as any other rituals, yeah, I love watchin while smokin a lil somethin, it makes the game that much more interesting. I love having the DVR so I can go back to key plays and watch at the rate I want, and FF thru commercials. I als love going on line and lining up the play by play on the tv with Mitch Holthus on Chiefs radio, there is nothin like a good ole "TOUCHDOWN KAN-ZUHHS-CITY". This will be my 18th year as a Chiefs fanatic. 2010...let's do the damn thing. Anything is possible. Anything. Haley's gottem believing that. And he's got me believing it too. This division is ours starting Week 1. and you can print that.

Earlybird I can smell that smell and hear the bass speaker set ups. Chiefs fan number 1 welcome to the season ticket community! My game day ritual starts with a visit to the AA website.

Since I was a kid I have been getting up at 6:30 to pack the truck for the game. We leave the house at 7:45 sharp and get ready for the tailgate party. We have parked and tailgated in the same spot for 25 years. Nothing can compare to the barbeque smell at 9am on a cold winter morning waiting for the Chiefs to kick some ass.

I really dont know what my new ritual will be this year this is my first year to have season tickets. but when i am at home i wake up have my coffee put on my jersey and start cooking all kinds of food for the game.then sit back eat and hope they can pull off a win

i usually saddle up at the village pour house next to the guy drinking a bloody mary and enjoying a smoke house burger! on the other side is a guy sporting an arrowhead tat fresh from the victory over the steelers. Is it Sunday yet? Go Chiefs!!!!!!

Holding it down in Seattle yo. laughing at the 12th man wherever I go! I meet Damon Huard out here and gave him a shout out for his play in SD when he threw those TD passes to D-Bowe, after bein down at halftime a few years back! EPIC!

Normally on Sundays i start my day off by going to church with my family. Then its playing a game of Madden against whatever team we play and hopeing we we get the same result in real life (thought i was the only one who did that lol). Then i watch Chiefs Update on tv. And then i throw on my old Tony Gonzalez jersey and yell and scream at my tv!

Thats pretty much the same ritual I go throug ,except for the bloody mary's (can't stand them) screw drivers for me. and I only had one jersey to choose from. Good ol' # 31!!! But I recently got my Eric berry jersey, the expensive one, so now I can have a choice I guess.
