The Chiefs are running a tight ship over there at “The New Arrowhead”. No real news other than what Josh Looney, Arrowheadpride, and of course, Arrowheadaddict provide. With that in mind, I just wanted to ask a simple question of all of you. Which new addition to the Kansas City Chiefs, (coach or player), will have the most significant impact upon the franchise this year and why?
My choice after the jump:
I believe that the biggest impact will be from offensive coordinator Charlie Weiss (with Romeo Crennel as a close second). Why? The Peter Principle is why.
The Peter Principle is the rule that “In a hierarchy every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence.” Simply stated, employees excel and are promoted to positions until they cannot excel any longer. It is no secret that Weiss (and Crennel) were excellent coordinators who won numerous Super Bowls in their last stints as coordinators. They were ultimately promoted to positions (Head Coaches) where their weaknesses were exposed. In the instant case, Weiss and Crennel, can develop and implement superior offenses or defenses, but their ability to delegate responsibility to others, instill passion, as well as lead, appear to be lacking.
Why choose Weiss over Crennel? In the NFL you have to develop and execute creative offenses to score points. I simply believe it is easier to stop an offense than to run one. That’s my two cents. What’s yours?
