AA Weighs In, Grades The Chiefs Draft

I think that a lot of people wanted a new ILB, OLB and NT. Well, we got a kid that can be the OLB, we picked up free agent that will play NT, maybe even use Dorsey in that spot. We picked up top end talent this year late in the draft becasue there was so much talent overall. Point is, Scott Pioli did a great job. I thought badly at first, but I then reconsidered. NT will be ok with Shaun Smith this year and maybe next. Last year we had only Edwards who couldn't cut it by himself. Now we can rotate 2. OLB, a little week still. Maybe our rookie can step in and make a contribution, but if not, we will still have a great secondary. Our 2a and 2b picks next year would have been picked much higher because the draft class is lesser. My point is, this year was the year to get the best tallent at the "luxury" possitions. There wont be a draft with this much overall tallent for a long time. I think we did good. Time will tell, but I think we did a real good job.
And I think KC should think about bringing in Denario Alexander. I hate MU, but this kid has great upside.
Do we not remember haleys conditioning test you had To pass To play last year? Haha cody wouldnt Have ever made it. My only concern is I Would Have rather seen sergio kindle at 2a mccluster at 2b And gotten perrish cox n The 4th or 5th only because cox is a true corner And Would be shut down at nickel. Ya hes got off The field isssues But with a hall of fame position coach And a leader Like berry tamba And vrabel he Would be ok.
The offense will be more versatile and explosive with McCluster as a slot receiver. (Think Wes Welker but with more YAC potential.) Match up mayhem on third down with JC and Dexter on the field at the same time. You will see McCluster line up at slot and receive and also whip around for hand offs. Unlike what has been said here, McCluster also may line up at running back at times as a change of pace and to keep all three RBs very fresh. The offensive line is rounding into shape--think end of last year but better with the off season acquisitions and Asamoah. Much improvement in the D backfield with Berry and then Arenas in nickel/dime. Arenas is also a big upgrade as a kick returner. Cody is a lard ass who had to be taken out of games in college---his stamina at the pro level will be worse. He is not a Pioli (New England) type of player. Golden Tate's speed and ability to get open in NFL coverages has been called into question. Weis would have pushed hard for him otherwise.
Mr. "I am not the gambling type," Pioli tricked us. He should play poker for a living. He skipped the best tackle in the draft to take a safety where almost no one takes a safety. Then he took 175 pound Dexter "papa smurf" McCluster at the top of the second and the took Javier "baby smurf" Arenas with the second number two. Neither McCluster nor Arenas will be full time players and their biggest impact will probably be on special teams. After Asamoah, which was a good conservative pick, they then traded two picks for a third round tight end. This was the Smurfs' draft. We now every weekend will be watching the little people....The SMURFS!...la la laaa....la la la laaa.....Pioli has gambled his future and the chiefs on the little blue people with white hats!
I just hope McCluster is a good WR and KR because if hes a great RB then we dont rele need him bc we already have 2 great RBs on the team!
I agree to a point Matt, but Aaron Hernadez was stll available ,But Moleki is suppse to be pretty good,if he can stay healthy!I liked the pick of Asamoah
I liked the pick of BERRY,but we had alot of options before\we took McCluster.Golden Tate was available. Why didn't we address a nose tackle and an outside linebacker?I'm assuming Weiss new something about Tate, and that's why we didn't go after him.I just think we could have helped our defense alot more than we did.The offensf ranked 25th and the defense was 30th!!!
I gave this draft a B. It would have been an A if we would have taken Cody with 2a and then taken McCluster with 2b. I feel Mccluster wouldve still been around by 2b. but i do like the pick of mccluster. i can live with arenas but he wasnt who i wouldve taken. I love Berry and asamoah picks and the tight end pick was good too. the last too im not sure about bc i dont kno much about them
maybe i am the only one who thinks this class can make a big difference, but if you all really knew what you were doing then you might be personnel people in the nfl.
True, if they didn't pick up Berry I would have been completely pissed, but still, there is no excuse for not addressing our gaping need at NT. The same can be said for LB
