AA’s Perfect World

by Chiefs

When it comes to AA, simply ask and you shall receive. We are doing what we can to be the most intellectually open and honest Chiefs blog you can find. We’ve done everything from posting big boards to airing our internal disagreements. We openly argue and hate on each other so you don’t have to. Although you’re welcome to.

Today, in addition to Paddy’s unrivaled draft access today on the site, I get the nerdy job of charts. Each major writer for this site listed who they’d prefer the Chiefs to draft with the #5 overall, and in what order. Each writer was specifically advised to to not even include prospects they didn’t like at that selection. Each writer was also advised not to include Sam Bradford or Ndamukong Suh, as both are pipe dreams at #5.

Our collective list is above. But our individual lists can be found after the jump, including a swift assessment at the end. Feel free to include your own list in comments.

As you can see, we disagree wildly…

Paddy:

1. Trade back.
2. S Eric Berry, Tennessee
3. CB Joe Haden, Florida
4. WR Dez Bryant, Oklahoma State
5. NT Dan Williams, Tennessee
6. ILB Rolando McClain, Alabama
7. OT Russel Okung, Oklahoma State

Andrew:

1. QB Jimmy Clausen, Notre Dame
2. S Eric Berry, Tennessee
3. RB CJ Spiller, Clemson
4. OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma State
5. OT Trent Williams, Oklahoma
6. Trade down.
7. CB Joe Haden, Florida
8. DT/DE Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma
9. S Taylor Mays, USC

Merlin:

1. Trade down.
2. NT Dan Williams, Tennessee
3. ILB Rolando McClain, Alabama
4. OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma State
5. S Eric Berry, Tennessee
6. OT Bryan Bulaga, Iowa

Randy:

1. S Eric Berry, Tennessee
2. NT Dan Williams, Tennessee
3  RB CJ Spiller, Clemson
4. OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma State
5. OT Bryan Bulaga, Iowa

Jeremy:

1. Trade down.
2. S Eric Berry, Tennessee
3. NT Dan Williams, Tennessee
4. ILB Rolando McClain, Alabama
5. OT Russell Okung, Oklahoma
6. CB Joe Haden, Florida
7. OT Anthony Davis, Rutgers
8. DE/DT Gerald McCoy, Oklahoma

My stray observations: As with essentially everywhere in the Chiefs blogosphere, Berry wins the day here. Berry was the top prospect for Paddy, Randy, and Jeremy. Trade down was the second most popular idea, with a surprising Dan Williams roaring right behind — apparently Paddy has had the most successful advocacy of draft season. Interestingly, he has Dan Williams only as his fifth favorite option.

My advocacies of Clausen and Spiller have fallen on deaf ears. Randy is high on Spiller as well but nobody else joins us, and I’m the lone advocate for a Jimmy Clausen future. And Haden got a little love towards the bottom of basically everybody’s lists, as did McClain.

As for the tackles, Okung is easily the favorite, but AA is collectively more interested in Bulaga than Trent Williams (again I am the lone supporter). Don’t ask me why.

You guys are making it too complicated. Everyone knows Okung is option one if he's there. Second would be trading back, if Okung is gone. Third is where it gets a little dicey. For me, I hate posting this because I think I am reading Mr. Pioli, but I see him taking Rolando McClain if he can't trade out of five. And McClain will be there so there is no need to look past that one! He fits all of the boss' code words, like "low risk, character...etc. It's here!

Our father who art in heaven......

I dreamt that we moved up to # 3 spot and grabbed Tebow. How wierd is that?

I'd find a priest and repent. Soon.

Because I will find you and destroy you if I hear if that actually happens.

There's alot of talk about Earl Thomas being better than E. Berry. The argument is that Berry is a better tackler but Thomas has better ball insticts and reads plays better. Mike Mayock has a good argument for him too.

What's your list, David?

1. NT Gerald McCoy - (He could put on a few lbs and be a 6'4 freak at NT)

2. NT Dan Williams

3. S Earl Thomas

4. S Eric Berry

5. Russell Okung

6. Trent Williams

I know it's not logical, but I would be very excited to see us work out a trade with the Lions so we could grab Suh for our NT. They could still get their QB at 5, Bradford or Claussen.
