McNabb to Oakland would be a game changer.

Despite all appearances, the Oakland Raiders are not a bad team anymore. They are actually a pretty good team with a ton of dynamic talent on both sides of the ball, but they are wrapped up like a boa constricter by a historically horrendous quarterback. And if you replaced Jamarcus Russell with a quarterback that meets this team’s talent and dynamism like Eagles trade bait Donovan McNabb, the entire AFC West will find itself radically transformed.

Donovan McNabb would have two very good running backs with Michael Bush and Darren McFadden. He would have two very talented young receivers with Louis Murphy and Chaz Schilens, and we might even get to see Darius Heyward-Bey develop. Did I mention Zach Miller at tight end… oof.

His offensive line would be weak, but that can be overhauled very quickly with the #8 overall and a midrounder for the right side of their line. The defense, on all three levels, is pretty strong, with its own assortment of elite players.

Look at the Raider’s opponents this year. Us twice, Denver twice, Chargers twice, hosting the Colts, Texans, Dolphins, Rams, and Seahawks, visiting the Steelers, Titans, Jaguars, Cardinals, and 49ers. Anybody else seeing a dozen potential wins there? I do.

McNabb, for what I imagine is would be the Raiders’ 2nd rounder and maybe more, might turn out to be a very good deal for Oakland, a really bad deal for Kansas City and the rest of the West.
