Chiefs Links: No sign of JaMarcus Russell at Raiders’ workouts

Per Pro Football Talk:

The Oakland Raiders began their voluntary offseason workout program today. There was no sign of their franchise quarterback, JaMarcus Russell.

David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that quarterbacks Charlie Frye (who signed his original draft pick tender) and Bruce Gradkowski (who has spent plenty of time at team facilities rehabbing a knee injury) both showed up. But White didn’t spot Russell.

Russell isn’t exactly known for his work ethic, so it’s no surprise if he’s not going to do any more work than he has to. One player laughed and told White that Russell is “a horror show,” while another said, “don’t hold your breath.”

I would say normally say that a division rivals QB acting stupid is a good thing for the Chiefs but in the case of Russel, I don’t want anything to jeopardize his starting position on the Raiders. They might actually be good with a competent QB.
