Sigh. I will always lament the loss of an Irishman on my favorite football team.

From Pro Football Talk:

In an off-season when many expected them to break the bank, the Washington Redskins have once again made a small-time free agent signing that demonstrates they’re going to be fiscally conservative this year.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Washington has signed former Chiefs tight end Sean Ryan to a one-year contract.

As Schefter points out, in the first week of free agency the Redskins have now signed two players, Ryan and offensive lineman Artis Hicks. So much for Dan Snyder going hog wild in an uncapped year.

Ryan is a 29-year-old veteran who bounced around the league as a backup with the Cowboys, Jets, Dolphins, Saints and 49ers from 2004 to 2008. In 2009 he signed with the Chiefs and had his best season, starting eight games and catching 14 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns.

TE- U bet. Cot-ham maybe alright, if they would use him. Tony G spoiled us, we need one as a blocker more than a receiver, we were used to the best! (We need anyone that can catch the ball) but Haley never used a pass catching TE with Cards, wonder how Weis feels about that?

Deep TE class this year. If Chiefs go TE they can wait until the 5th round and still get good value.

Pioli is a master at misdirection so don't take the TE comment to heart. If a player is available when we pick that rates high in the Chiefs draft then they take him, but it is not an overwhelming need unless Cottam isn't OK>

Dear God almighty. Thanks Tybme.

I have probably typed Chiefs 10,000 times in the last year and I have been waiting for the moment when I typed too fast and screwed that up. Shame.

oops I meant our first second round pick or our second second round pick! We have to save that first pick for Mr. Berry!

why not try for hernandez with our first or maybe even second round pick? Less expensive and fresh legs!

haha "Mr. Fanatic"

Pioli did mention TE as an area of need. The Chiefs will make a move there whether it be through FA, trade or the draft.

Strongly agree with Mr. Fanatic!!

Thats ok,now we need to make a deal for olsen from the Bears.
