Chiefs Links: Broncos cut Davis; could he fit in K.C.?

From ESPN.com:

I could see Davis fitting in with the Chiefs. The Chiefs run a 3-4 defense and they could use another solid linebacker.

More importantly, Davis played for new Kansas City defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel in Cleveland. The new Chiefs regime is big on past connections. The more I think of this pairing, the more I like it.

If Davis does end up in Kansas City, the decision to cut him could come back to haunt Denver.

The Chiefs probably feel as though they are set at OLB but I think they have to take a look at Davis. Addicts?

From the Denver Post:

"A starter in 13 of 16 games at the strong inside linebacker position in his first and only season with the Broncos in 2009."
"After seven seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Davis became a free agent and signed a two-year, $3.3 million contract with the Broncos prior to the 2009 season that would have paid him $1.56 million in 2010. His 90 tackles last season were third on the team behind his linebacker partner D.J. Williams (122) and safety Brian Dawkins (116)."

Looks like he'd be a bargain at 1.56 mil so if Romeo likes him I'd think we'd definitely be interested in Davis.

I would love this, the dude would be foaming at the mouth twice a year and he's probably a pretty good improvement on mays or williams. Hes still got a few good years left in him, and seems to be that middle-class, affordable kind of free agent that pioli is snatching up left and right. Why not give the guy a shot? I see no downside, provided he comes at a reasonable price.

I agree. I am glad you are commenting here. You have some good points to make.

The article said he played on the inside in Denver's 3-4. He'd definately be an upgrade over Williams and Mays. Why not give him a shot, sounds like he's had two solid years in a row, and he was real good in Romeo's D in Cleveland. Just like with the NT Smith, if Romeo says he'd fit, let's bring him in. GO CHIEFS!!

Yeah we need the fresh meat, I dont think we are set at OLB. ROMEO knows. GO KC

He is an upgrade and a Gator, we need some Gators

Hey bring him on,we need all the help we can get no matter what team they played for.anything is a improvement.

Wait, I thought he played INSIDE LB, on the Broncos' 3-4. ....anyway, BRING HIM ON! .... he's a solid LB......he WANTS to stick it to the broncos.
I'm all for it, I hope the Chiefs get him, hell, bring in BIG Warren too from the Raiders.....that would be exiting!........GO KC!

Jeremy:

I agree. Romeo knows him. If he thinks Davis is a good upgrade I say go for it.

Again, we should look him up, let him compete in Camp and go with him if he has skills left. We need to upgrade the linebacking corp.

He would be an upgrade over Williams, Mays, right?

He is someone to look at.

OK, you lost me. you guys know everybody.. i don't remember Davis - refresh - refresh
