As you can see from my Live Coverage of Scott Pioli’s interview this morning on 610 Sports, about the only interesting thing the Chiefs GM said was that Thomas Jones was in KC today.
We had been hearing that Jones was supposed to be in KC on Monday but no news came out of Arrowhead yesterday. If the reports were correct and Jones was in KC yesterday then that means he has been there for 2 days. If that is the case, it sounds like the two camps are trying to hammer out a deal. I would not be shocked if Jones is a Chief by the end of the day. Stay tuned, Addicts.

Still too busy to write Pat but what I wanted to say was that by looking at the Chiefs actions this free agency, so far it is clear they wanted to upgrade thier RB and WR positions through free agency. Still are.
That indicates to me that they are looking to draft OL, LB, and safety in the draft.
Absolutley no action in regards to safety this free agency indicates they may look at Berry at Number #3 or another safety in the second round. either way they have to address it in the draft now since they are lloking at noone as a FA. Gotta go.
If we can get Fargas and Jones signed for 2 or 3 years we would have a solid back field.
I don’t think we need fargas and jones. I say we go with jones. He’s a work horse.
do you think by us trying to pick up a RB in FA that it increases the possibility that we will take an OL with our first pick? Or does it not change anything?
Cameron:
I really don’t think the Chifs will draft O-Line with their first pick. Scott Pioli said at the Combine that offensive line was a priority but not THE priority.
This is what I think the Chiefs will do with their first pick, in order.
1. Eric Berry
2. Trade Back
3. WR Dez Bryant
4. LB Rolando McClain
Man this would be a great acquisition .. let’s hope they work out a deal and get Jone’s on the roster. If Berry is available I’d hope the Chief’s would pull the trigger on him. If we trade down then we look for someone like McClain’s (ILB)or Haden (safety)depending on who wants a QB bad enough and if Clausen or Bradford are available at 5.
Patrick,
I like it! I’m a huge Tennessee football fan don’t ask me why.. But berry would change the face of our defense. Guys like reed and palamalu change the way other offenses gameplan for their respective teams.
what would the chiefs be willing to trade back for and who with in your opinion?
Pat,
What do you think of our chances of pursuing Lilja? It seems logical that we would at least try to bring him in. Supposedly he’s a weak run blocker, but he can’t be any worse than who we had last year, and Charles did pretty good with what we had. And he’d be a major upgrade at pass blocking, which would be great for Cassel. Plus he’s a smaller lineman (I think?) which seems would fit in our scheme given that we asked Albert to trim down last year.
If we did get him, which position would he play? I read somewhere he was their starting left guard, but somewhere else that he was their right.
This is off topic, but I really wish people would stop wishing for (or thinking we’ll go for) Dez Bryant. I overlapped with him at OSU and I can tell you that no one, not even his own teammates or coach, have anything positive to say about him other than his talent. They tolerated him because of his talent. He is totally self-centered, plays only when he wants to, and fireworks would fly if he was on the roster with Haley as coach. Maybe I could be wrong, but it just isn’t going to happen if the Chiefs have done their homework. I put the same odds on the Chiefs signing TO.
jones would be good farges would be ok but not both let’s remmeber the guy who gave us a little postive attitude bout the future last year in jamal Charles the guy rushed for almost 1200 yard in limited time last year I think he deserve the starting job no matter who we sign the guy is a future stud we can’t let this oppertunity pass us by
well jamaal is obviously the starting back. We are just talking about bringing in a compliment back for charles. Jones is a power back and that’s what we need to go along with charles! Charles is the man. You know that he accumulated more yards in the same amount of time than priest did his break out season. We have a gem in charles!
Cameron:
I think their goal in trading back woul dbe to aquire an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick, depending on who they trade with. They know they have a ton of holes to fill so the more high picks they have the better. Trading back they could more justify taking someone like McClain, Bryant or even Dan Williams (NT). 5 would be alittle high for all of those guys.
If they traded back far enough they could also consider Golden Tate who is moving up draft boards and could go near the end of the 1st round.
Personally I don’t care if a guy is considered a “reach” as long as they are right about him. Tate played for Weis and now that the chiefs have Bowe and Chambers coming back I think Tate would be an explosive option in the passing game.
MoCan2:
I could really see the Chiefs going after Lilja. They have money to spend an dany offensive line upgrades they can make in free agency will give them more flezibility in the draft, which isn’t stacked with inertior offensive lineman. I think the Chiefs have to take a look at him.
Is it just me, or are the Chiefs the slowest, most secretive team in the NFL when it comes to player interest, interaction and visits. I remember when they traded for Vrabel. It was like a full day before Cassel’s inclusion was even rumored.
I just heard the chiefs are going to trade charles for wilfork. finally we get a nose tackle.
Dub:
Source on this?
No way this could happen!! Charles is the only spark that we had on o last year no way we trade him now. Jones is to old to be the only back. id rather draft a nose than get wilfork.
Took awhile but my source says rumour only, I couldn’t believe either.
My source just told me we are picking up Larry Fitzgerald for a bottle of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce. Hang on, let me confirm…could be a rumor.
Charles for Wilfork. That gave me the best laugh of the day so far. I wonder what we would trade for Wilfork? You think they would take DJ and Page? Probably the only scenario where i would be alright with DJ leaving.
And Fitz for one bottle? You know they’re looking for a lifetime supply, i heard Whisenhunt prefers it to milk in his cereal. Not to mention the bottle he downs for lunch every day, and god only knows how many he chugs with his dinner.
Schefter is tweeting that Willie Parker will be in this week too…we had better sign Jones. I have a feeling he’s going to get away.
Charles, Jones, and Parker. With another reciever we are deadly and we may not need a o-line immediately. What you think?
Sign C Mawae and trade DJ to Detriot for #66 and #161. Drop to #9 with Buafflo and get their 3rd and 4th switch our 2b for their #41. Send Croyle to Cleveland with our #161 for NT Shaun Rodgers.
