Thomas Jones Signs With Chiefs

Thomas Jones was a great running back for the Bears. Worked hard and led by example. Very popular in the locker room.
Hard for me to imagine this guy being a backup. He'll fight for the starting job. He's not flashy, but he always shows up.
You guys are lucky to have him.

Awesome pick-up for the Chiefs who just may have solved Jamaal's fumbling issues. That being said, don't be surprised if Jamaal fumbles early on like 2009 if Todd isn't all over Charlie to make Jones the primary back for 2010. No one hates a fumbler like Todd.

Jones knows his role. He will be our short yardage, and goalline back. I see him getting a max of 15 touches a game, and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, he seems to fit the mold of the power back needed in football to close out games in january. We are going to wear teams out with the running game this year. His leadership is invaluable, and his yards per season has increased every year. Chiefs fans will be as happy with this pick up as they were Marcus Allen.

charles still better be the starter .... im ok with jones being in while charles needs a brake but not an every down back

Hopefully the flood gates are about to open. Lilja is better than we have, Ben Watson or trading for Greg Olsen would be real nice. NT Smith has character issues but if Pioli, Haley, & Crennel can't get him straight nobody will. If they can get him cheap go for it. A back up DE Smith or Ellis & a MLB would be great so they could draft Berry without hesitation. If Berry is gone trade back for more picks.

This is fantastic, we fill a need with a very reasonable contract. The trickle down is also enormous as we no longer need to draft a running back, thus allowing more flexibility in the draft. And who knows, maybe this can be our Reggie White signing ie other FA look at us as a legit team and start to sign with us.

I know that this is only a signing of a second running back, but this is by far our best signing to date under the Pioli regime. Hats off.

This is great! I think it will extend Charles career with us and he can gain some wisdom from his experience. This is just terrific!

So on Lilja...someone educate me. Is he the best OG available through FA right now? Is he better than any 3rd or 4th round OG we could get in the draft? I have heard a lot about the lack of rushing success the Colts have had (granted, they have Manning), and I'm very curious as to why they'd just release him. I wonder if everyone on here is love with him just because he is better than anyone CURRENTLY on our roster and he's a KC guy.

Battle can be that third back. I believe that he can contribute on special teams also. Our third back is going to have to contribute on special teams. We really need to move on Lilja. He won't be around long and he is way better than what we have.

Do you think that the Willie Parker visit is no more? Surley they will hold on to Charles and not do something dumb and trade him like the rumor says....... Right?

With Jamal Charles and now Thomas Jones in the backfield that may be enough talent to help let the Battle Axe shine.

If they get the NT and maybe another OL(lilja) this will allow them to concentrate on best available maybe Berry or McClain or trade down for more picks and football players

I really expect the Chiefs to sign another RB - either Fargas or Parker. Having the 3 (Charles, Jones and ?) would make a nice backfield. Sounds familiar hmmm where I have I seen that before.... Oh yeah - NE!

Chiefs now need to get a big center who can open up holes for Jones.

If they make improvements up front I think the Chiefs coul dhave one of the most dangerous rushing attacks in the league.

Not to mention that he's going to have a chip on his shoulder the size of TX for his old team dumping him after a 1400 yd season so they didn't have to pay him more. One thing that is true in most sports: those with a chip on their shoulder usuallly out-perform their normal abilities.
