Report: Justin Fargas To Visit The Chiefs

Washington Redskins v Oakland Raiders

It looks like one way or another, the Chiefs will have a new running back by the end of business on Monday. We told you earlier that the Chiefs are expected to meet with former RB Thomas Jones on Monday. Now we are hearing they will also entertain former Raiders back, Justin Fargas, who was released this morning.

From Pro Football Talk:

Running back Justin Fargas, who was cut by the Raiders for supposedly failing a physical but who claims he didn’t, could be getting a chance to take another physical soon.

David White of the San Francisco Chronicle reports that Fargas will be visiting the Chiefs.

“I was told by [Raiders coach Tom Cable] that they were moving in a different direction,” Fargas told White. “They said it was strictly about money. . . . I know some things were put out there, I guess they said I didn’t ass [unfortunate typo not narrowly averted] a physical. I’m a little disappointed by the way it happened but I understand it’s a business.”

What do you think, Addicts? Jones or Fargas?

Saw we just hired Urban as WR - educate me - was this a good hire?

Fargas is 30 and Jones 31. Jones has rushed for 1000+ the last 3 years albeit with a plethora of carries topping out at 376 last year. Fargas is injury prone and average. Jones still has much value if he splits carries. No contest. Bring on the Cavalier.

did backbone even watch a chief game last year charles is the man

Hey mmoore, I agree we have other needs, but Jones would fulfill a need. I also believe we will see a couple of players drafted last tear make much greater contributions than most anticipate, since they think last year's draft sucked. I think they drafted much better than anyone gives them credit for but time will tell. A couple of astute NFL personnel guys think Donald Washington and Pierre Walters have the talent to be starters. This ballhooed coaching staff has something to prove with this young talent.

Jones doesnt blow my skirt up, and neither does Huggy Bear. We need one of 'em though, its just not the game changing aquisition I had hoped for. Oh well maybe more to come.

Chief fans i do apollogise about saying Fargas sucks,if we end up with him so be it,but i think jones is the best option.

I think that rb is the least of our worries in fa. There are a slew of mid level fa at the cb, lb, and wr that are much more important. Money is not a problem for us. I would take jones. Great leader who keeps in great shape. Have you seen his arms? Get him in here and address our real problems. Nothing was known about charles last year and that makes me fearful of how well he plays behind our oline with proper film study this year. I know ol is a boring pick, but it is one hat could solidy our line for a decade

He ain't Jones, he fumbles frequently as he is ONLY a straight ahead runner without any moves. I think he is a bargaining ploy to get Jones to sign.

As long as they are giving Charles a break and helps slow the wear and tear on him, sign em both up. Good, physical runners that can help in short yardage situations and have some experience. I dont see how you can lose signing them both.

First off, you can't really judge how good Fargas is. The Raider's passing game has been so horrible in the last 4 to 5 years that the other team just stacked 8 to 9 in the box every play! Even then I remember Fargas still doing damage. Jones has carried the ball A TON of times. Three times in his career he has carried it over 300 times in a season. Fargas hasn't once. They are both good running backs and I would be fine with either of them wearing chiefs red. I just don't like the flack that Fargas is getting. He has burned us several times.

Fargas is good....not great. He does have heart and shows that while running. Jones is definately the more proven back. I really dont care who the Chiefs sign, but sign someone to help Charles out. Stop wasting time and get it done!! Re-sign Chambers too. He actually had a productive season with the Chiefs!!

fargas said he didn't pass a physical is that an issue?

Sign jones,he's the better of the two 30 year olds

Fargas definitely doesn't "suck".... he is a BEAST, he plays with heart, and usually players that feel they got done dirty, feel like they have somthing to prove and usually prove it..NOW,, I'm not saying Jones isn't a good option,as much as I'm against siging "OLD" players, specially RB, I was excited to have him with us, BUT Fargas has more upside and I just hope he wears the red & gold next year, it'd be fun twice a year to play the raiders.....SIGN FARGAS!

I feel like the Raiders had so many backs that none of them ever got enough carries to really take over.

I'd be fine with Fargas or Jones. Jamaal Charles is the stud.

I have to go with johnny5 on this one. Fargas is a very very talented RB. His problem is that he's on a team stacked deep with talent at the RB position. So he has not been THE MAN anywhere yet. Atleast here he could get some more playing time.

That said. I really want Jones. Please.

When I saw Fargas was released by the Raiders I had a feeling we would be at least considering him. I by no means think Fargas sucks, actually I remember him tearing up our defense a few times. I witnessed it live twice. I know our defense wasn't that great, but he played with a lot of heart and did well.

With all that said I must say I would much rather sign Thomas Jones than Fargas still. Jones is more proven and even though he is 31 he had a heck of a season last year. I think the Jets are fools for not keeping him around.

They better not let jones leave without signing him or somebody else will grab him.Fargas sucks,

Thomas Jones & Justin Fargas both come from a 2 back system. So...

They both can outplay Jamal Charles.

I want Jones. Fargas is leverage to keep Jones' contract demands down.
