**UPDATING LIVE**Schefter: Chiefs, Ravens Going After Boldin. Deal Close?

by Chiefs

Adam Schefter is reporting that the Chiefs and Ravens are dueling it out for the services of Anquan Boldin!

Arizona is closing in on a long-anticipated deal to trade Pro Bowl wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Leading contender: Baltimore. KC also in.

Come on Scott, make this happen.

Word on the street is that the Cards will accept a 3rd round pick for Boldin. The Chiefs obviously can offer a much higher pick in the 3rd round than the Ravens. I am not sure why the Ravens are the frontrunner. The only thing I can think of is that they may be offering their 2nd round pick.

I firmly believe the Chiefs need to make this move, especially with the uncertainty in regards to Chris Chambers.

Pro Football Talk says the Patriots are also in the mix. With all these teams I fear a 2nd round pick may be involved.I don’t know if the Chiefs will go that high.

The Arizona Cardinals have multiple trade offers for wide receiver Anquan Boldin and are close to determining which one they’ll accept.

PFT has heard that the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs and New England Patriots are all interested in acquiring Boldin from the Cardinals.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Cardinals have spent much of Friday weighing their offers and determining which one to take. Schefter says that right now, the Ravens are the leading contenders.

Although it was reported this week that the Cardinals wanted a third-round draft pick for Boldin, it’s possible that the presence of multiple bidders for his services has upped the price.

Update:Pats out of the running?

From NFP:

Although initially regarded by league sources as the frontrunner to land Arizona Cardinals star wide receiver Anquan Boldin via a trade, the New England Patriots are dropping out of the sweepstakes.

According to an NFL source with knowledge of the situation, the Patriots have decided to pass after originally pursuing it hard enough that they were considered the leader.

And that leaves the Baltimore Ravens and the Kansas City Chiefs as the two teams going after Boldin with both teams in dire need of upgrades to their wide receiver corps.

Word out there now is that it is between the Ravens and Chiefs. The Chiefs have offered a 3rd round pick. If the Ravens give up a 2nd, they get Boldin, if not, he is a Chief.

SI.com’s Peter King says the Ravens are close to a deal. Stay tuned.

yeah, its all good

Dude is right anyway

GO CHIEFS!!!!!!!

Basically nothing personal. =)

Dude and Doglass

I am glad you guys are commenting. But no fighting or I will delete comments. Debate. Disagree but if it gets nasty I am pulling the plug. We are all Chiefs fans. I will not let this become the KC Star boards.

Cheers.

Boldin is GONE....deal with it, or keep crying, I dont care

You act like FA is over. The Chiefs don't get Boldin and its allllll oveerrrrrrrrrr.

And i'm glad your re-stating what im saying.....yes you fill holes through FA and guess what??? FA ISNT OVERRRR!!!!!

Dude- Boldin has only missed more than 4 games once and he has had 1000 yds all but 2 times in that time period. You're crazy if you think he isnt worth a 2nd round pick. The Chiefs are cheap bro, and if you are ok with that fine, but be prepared to be non factors. You have to plug holes thru FA in order to be good. Thats the bottom line.

Yes....now take the sand outta your vag

or better yet, go move to Washington or Chicago where they go after big name FA but wont ever win SH*T!!!!! sound good?!!

Dude, your last name happen to be Hunt?

Boldin ha played 2 full seasons so far....he's usually injured and I never said his injuried were serious, but if your gonna trade and pay big money for a guy, you better hope he's on the field the whole season....and yes I know injuries are part of the game, but they seem to follow him around.

You people act like FA is over after today. There are still a lot of good quality players out there. We all knew (well at least some did) that the Chiefs weren't gonna go above and beyond some deals. This offseason is totally different than any other with no CBA. When was the last time the Chiefs went after a big name FA??? they dont!!!! now deal with it or root for the team in Foxboro

The Chiefs need to get good through the draft first before any decent free agent will want to play here.Or we'll have to severly overpay, ala Redskins. The Chiefs need to get very lucky in this draft and get hopefully a rookie of the year type player and at least 4 quality starters from this draft.I personally dont care who they draft whether it be Berry,Okung,Bryant we need help everywhere.

Dude, I think Douglas is just frustrated like most of us. We know we cannot be very competiive with the draft and our current roster. Not saying that the new coaching and young talent can't bring things around, but we truely need some love through FA. Just to many holes to fill. Let's not forget we still have trades. I just think the Hunt family may be a little to rich! WTF do iknow?

If you guys are content with that fine, but Im not. Im not gonna pay money to see them (Ive went to atleast 1 game the last 7 years) if they are not going to upgrade this team. Maybe that doesnt mean anything to you or to the Chiefs but I feel betrayed. Lowest pay roll should mean lowest ticket prices and we dont have that. They are so cheap they are letting our best WR last year look around in FA, Why? Why would they do that? They are not short on money. Wade Smith was probably one of the most valuable players on our OL last year, He played C, RG, LG, and LT at one point last year. Didnt allow that many sacks and they are willing to just let him walk? Boldin is not the big deal, there are guys out there that could help our team and if they dont upgrade some places, im going to feel betrayed.

Ok Dude, Did I ever say I would give up on the team? Also, Boldin is not injury prone in any sense of the way. He has had isolated injuries but none serious enough to even slow him down. He still has 4 or 5 good 80 catch seasons in him and for a 3rd and a 4th, a 5th and Boldin is a steal. Not to mention the Chiefs picks were so high they only would have had to swap 4th round picks. The reason we didnt get Boldin is the same reason we didnt get any FA yet, Hunt is cheap. We have the lowest pay roll in football and the Team is worse then they were last year player wise. Its just messed up that Hunt is content with putting garbage on the feild like this when he could be upgrading our team.

Shut up Douglas!!!!! my god!! I love how you just "give up" on the team cuz they couldn't get a 30 year old injury prone WR.....wow

I think hunt is just flat out cheapass! I am just getting myself more pissed off watching all of this happen.

Shane and Douglas.

Boldin would have been nice, but would you give up two of only 8 picks to get him, when we have so many holes, and can resign chambers, sign antonio bryant, kevin walters?

At least we tried, but the asking price was too steep. Ravens were willing to give because they can be a playoff team.

Keep the faith bros. We will get better!

I dont know why I continue to support this team. They have always done this. Also, for everyone that says champions are built thru the draft, I would agree. But almost every SB champion in the last 10 years had a significant FA starting for them. Whether they aquire them thru FA or trade. Saints- Sharper Giants- Burress patriots- Welker, Moss, Thomas, Seau, and so on. This orginization has always done this and anyone who thought we had a shot at Boldin was crazy. They didnt want to pay him, they would have gave up a 3rd and a 4th and gotten a 5th back easy.

Just a thought and there are absolutely no reports or even rumors about this, but what do you think the possibilities of a trade for moss? He seems like a good fit after already being on the recieving end of MC. Just a thought. I know I am loopy by this point.

We's be screwed. At least they were in the hunt. What half ass hasbeen do we go get now?

If we don't bring back Chambers now we have a problem. According to NFL.com we only have 4 recievers: Lawrence, Bowe, Williams, and Long. Not an impressive group.

Hello Antonio Bryant!!!!

Trading a 3rd and a 4th when we have so many other needs would have been stupid IMO. If we could have got him for just a 3rd or maybe a player plus a fourth, that would have been okay, but the Ravens could afford to lose more in this draft than we could.

People need to realize that there are 32 teams in the NFL all trying to get the same guys to come in and play for them. The Chiefs have undoubtedly tried to persuade a few to come in this weekend, but on the whole the guys who sign now are not worth the cost in the long run.

We need to save our picks, sign quality FAs for reasonable salaries, and draft well to rebuild this team for the long haul. Fixing it quick is what King Carl would do, and we all know how that turned out.

It's not that bad as long as we actually sign free agents this year unlike the last few years. If we don't get at least one relevant starter I'll be upset. I'm sick of the biggest pickups being people like Devard Darling and Bobby Engram.

well....we suck ass at dealing and wheeling....we'll never be a winning team without being aggressive

It's hard to get it all right some times with how fast the bottom line goes by.

Baltimore only gave up a 3rd and a 4th, they actually got a 5th back is what Schefter said on ESPN

It's over. BAL gives a 3rd, 4th, and 5th. According to ESPN.

It's over. BAL gives a 3rd, 4th, and 5th.

Like sands through an hourglass...so are any FA's that will help this team. Traded to Bal

boy, i wish i was the kc gm! id hav boldin in a heartbeat! lol

I see a second rounder being worth it Im with you Matt. I mean look back how many second rounders have we had that paid off in the past? We can get some miles and some wisdom out of this guy. Adam Best wanted him a year ago if I remember the posts .

Of course if Peter King says the ravens are the front runner I think it increases our chances - his projections almost always are wrong.

Haley needs to work his Arizona magic!!!!!

we hav 2 2nd rounders! y dont we give them one!

For a 2 - the Ravens can have him. I'd rather see the Chiefs throw a bunch of money at Chambers and bring in Bryant than give a 2 up for the next Alvin Harper.

That's my opinion.

I wonder if he has a preference

yeah me too bo

WHOOOOOOOOOA CJ !!!!

I HERE ITS ALMOST A DONE DEAL WITH THE RAVENS

hey matt, grab a gravatar at www.gravatar.com

He will be a wasted talent with the chiefs.... He needs to go to a winner like the ravens

I dont think this is gonna happen for us. :-(

DAMN IT

Peter King says Ravens are close.

Nick Wright says Chiefs will not give up a 2 for Boldin.

If the Ravens give up a 2, he is theirs.

If Jackie went by "Jack" he damn well might have the coolest name in the NFL

Peter King is saying it will be Ravens.

Nick Wright saying Chiefs.

Will take a 2nd rounder by the looks of it.

Come on ADAM an update PLEASE!!!!

Chiefs signed Jackie Battle.

Dolphins terminated the contracts of linebackers Akin Ayodele and Joey Porter along with safety Gibril Wilson.
