Chiefs Links:Post Combine Mock Draft

by Chiefs

Pat Kirwan’s fist mock from NFL.com:

1. St. Louis Rams
Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma

This is a QB driven league and if the Rams don’t trade for a QB in free agency or move down in the draft, Bradford is this year’s Matthew Stafford. At 6-foot-4 ¼ and 236 pounds, he could be a franchise QB.

2. Detroit Lions
Ndamukong Suh, DT, Nebraska

He is impressive on tape, he put on a show at the combine, and he will be Jim Schwartz’ answer to his days in Tennessee, when Albert Haynesworth dominated the line of scrimmage.

3. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Gerald McCoy, DT, Oklahoma

The Bucs have returned to the Monte Kiffin style 4-3 defense, and McCoy can do many of the things Warren Sapp did back in the glory days of Tampa’s defense.

4. Washington Redskins
Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State

Chris Samuels is expected to announce his retirement this week, leaving a glaring hole at left tackle. But I do wonder if the ‘Skins want to move up for Bradford.

5. Kansas City Chiefs
Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

Chiefs GM Scott Pioli wants high character guys, and Bulaga fits the bill. He was coached by one of Pioli’s friends in the business, Kirk Ferentz.

Interesting, eh? Taking Bulaga with Berry still on the board. I hate it. ;)

Surely their not that stupid,Berry all the way.

Wow, I wasn't a fan of Bulaga in the first place, but to hear this from Hawkeye fans is definitely confirming. At the #5, there has to be a player available that is an immediate upgrade, impact player for the team at a position of need. Berry would be really hard to pass on with Okung gone (he was a stud at combine), as well as Haden. I think if Berry and Clausen are available, there should be a great opportunity to trade down due to the concern of Seattle taking Claussen. This is that absolute ideal scenario for the Chiefs. Adding picks in this incredibly deep drafts without costing talented players on the roster should be goal #1.

Wrong! Berry at 5 or I blow something up!

Unless we trade cassel and move down 10-15 picks. Then it wouldn't be as wrong. Still wrong but not as wrong.

I'm another Hawkeye fan (were everywhere, were everywhere) but have to pass on this one. If Berry is on the board at number 5 we take him. He's a game changer and in the Top 3 this draft. I'm starting to see the merit in Bob's post about drating 2 safeties this year. If we did pick Bulaga we'd be getting a perennial pro-bowler who will be a solid Team guy but if Berry's there you pull the trigger without a second thought.

I feel as though it is my duty as a current student at the University of Iowa and avid lover of big bad Brian Bulaga to defend my boy.

HOWEVER as much as I love him, I must agree that after watching him in person for three years I do not believe that he is worthy of a #5 pick. Don't get me wrong Big B is not the second coming of Robert Gallery he is far more talented, but he is also not worthy of a 5th pick in the draft. He could be a phenominal right tackle, or a pretty solid left tackle some some team...just not at the price of a top 5 pick.

All that being said..I vote Eric Berry.

Ok, this is the ONLY offensive lineman I could deal with at #5 seeing as I'm an Iowa Hawkeyes fan and I know how dominant Bulaga can be. But if we were set on drafting him, I think we could move down a few spots and still get him.

I don't like this pick. While I like Bulaga, I think he is a reach at 5. What blows me out of the water is choosing him while Berry is sitting there.

However, I should say that the OL class in this draft is deep but top-heavy. So if we want an O-lineman (and we do) we should get him in the first 2 rounds.

sorry BULAGA still not thinking hall of famer

I hope we just do not miss the target again, beginning to wonder if Kansas City is the place where smart football minds come to get stupid. Junior Salivi, Glen Dorsey. Ryan Sims, Tamba Hali, Tyson Jackson, LJ, Medlock, I know I am missing many many more big name -future hall of lamers. We need another Tony G,, some kind of face of the franchise. Do not think Olga??? will be it.

I think berry Is To much To Pass on but i Could c us goin o line with 2a or 2b n maybe 3

Hmmm can the Rams protect Bradford?

I wouldn't mind the OT so much over Berry as long as it's a higher rated OT, not the Iowa guy. The Big 10 is over rated in football.
