Good points but you may be reading too much into it. Pioli could go o-line in the first round and claim ‘positional value’. I still think McClain is the frontrunner, but you never know.

Hmmm: I’m translating some of these as 3-4 NT hard to find (okay, that one wasn’t translated), OL not likely to be used with #1 pick, and offensive players are too much of a gamble to use a #1 pick on because they are harder to evaluate. Now the questions are what’s their board order for which DEF players they are taking with #1, and which one of those will fall to use first? I doubt they’ll tip their hand for their board order. Dang.
