ESPN’s Bill Williamson has done an overrated/underrated for the AFC West:
Overrated:
Kansas City, Dwayne Bowe, receiver: Bowe proved last year he can’t be counted on as a true No. 1 receiver yet. He dogged it in training camp and was temporary demoted to the third string. Then, he was suspended by the NFL for four games for using a banned substance. Bowe took a back seat to receiver Chris Chambers after Chambers was claimed off waivers from San Diego in early November. Bowe is just not ready to be considered a standout.
Underrated:
Kansas City, Brandon Flowers, cornerback: Flowers is one of the bright spots of Kansas City’s defense. Flowers, a second-round draft pick in 2008, can be a building block to the Chiefs’ defense. He is a playmaker and he is good in coverage. He has a chance to be a Pro Bowl player at some point soon.
What do you think? Is Williamson right? Who is your over/under for the Chiefs?
I’ll starts us off:
Overrated: Mike Vrabel
Underrated: Tamba Hali

I don’t think Vrabel is overrated. I think his deal is he’s just getting older.
Overrated: Brokie Croyle
Underrated: Ryan Succop
Well, Williamson is looking at it from more of a distance. Hard core Chief fans know how good Flowers is. So, let me aim mine more at the hard core fans.
Overrated: Chiefs’ offensive line improvement this year.
Overrated: Todd Haley as a first year head coach.
Underrated: Tyson Jackson’s improvement this year.
Underrated: Glenn Dorsey’s play this year.
Haley Doesn’t get his stuff together, well two head coach prospects are already on the staff.
Merlin, interesting comments as always…
Overrated: Tyson Jackson’s improvement. I never agreed with the pick and with a fairly underwhelming performance even by rookie DEs in a 3-4, I’m fairly sure that I was right on that feeling.
Overrated: Dwayne Bowe. Talk about a disappointment as far as first round WR talent goes. I don’t know if there is much hope for DBowe in KC if he can’t keep his hands on the damn ball.
Underrated: Brandon Flowers — shutdown cornerback on an abysmal defense.
Underrated: Jamaal Charles. I saw something explosive, instinctive, and tough, out of this third round pick that I think will be carried over into next season. Most say that he can’t be a feature back, but I disagree completely. He needs some help to carry the load, that’s for sure, but he can carry 75-90% of the time.
I like Merlin’s picks for overrated seeing as I never liked Haley coming in the first place. But… anyway… there it is.
Overrated: Brandon Carr
Underrated: Ryan Succop. Specifically, how having a reliable kicker can improve the mood of a football team.
