StallWorth To Be Reinstated

AUTHOR: Patrick Allen | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 9 Comments

Goodell said he met with Stallworth for 45 minutes to an hour before the Dolphins’ final regular-season game in Miami, where Stallworth lives. Goodell added that Stallworth seemed to be remorseful and worthy of reinstatement. Their conversation helped seal the reinstatement, Goodell said. Once Stallworth is re-instated, it will be up to the Browns and new team president Mike Holmgren as to whether the team wants to retain the receiver.

Cleveland drafted wideouts Mohamed Massaquoi and Brian Robiskie last season and has on its roster Pro Bowl return man/receiver Josh Cribbs, who could have his contract re-worked upwards. If Stallworth is released by Cleveland, he would be a free agent that could prove valuable to several receiver-needy teams like St. Louis, Chicago and Miami.

Whether those teams want to deal with the potential PR backlash is something that could impact Stallworth’s employability.

I know some of you folks probably have some pretty strong feelings about Dante Stallworth. If a discussion gets a brewin, keep it cool. I also encourage you to watch the video on espn when you get a chance. It is interesting.

Personally, from the information I have seen on it, I think Stallworth would have hit the guy regardless. Especially after watching that video. I don’t for a second condone his getting behind the wheel while still over the limit but ever since the sentence was so light I have thought it was probably a pretty unavoidable accident.

What i am here to ask you, however, is would you be interested in picking up Stallworth were he to become available?

Would you want to see the Chiefs sign Dante Stallworth?

Split down the middle so far!

alright people, I want answers. Is it because you don’t think he is that great of a receiver or person?

    Or both?

it doesn’t matter what i think, the nfl is full of talented felons. that being said, if haley and pioli bring him in and he fills a need, it is not like it’s a ground breaking move. my question would be is he a malcontent or a team player. i remember him as a prima donna, and wonder who wins the race to the microphone- hum or bowe.

I voted yes – from watching the video (thanks for the link) I feel he has been humbled by this experience and could very well turn into a model NFL citizen. I will probably watch him closely in the future no matter where he goes just to see how he turns out.

I’m afraid some would take Hitler if he could catch a ball.

  5. derek says:

Hitler would probablly have to run under a 4.0 forty and be able to catch theball and probally have to be a pretty good rout runner too

  6. I say no, not because of the off field issues, but he just has not been that great.

Good thing he killed a guy and not a dog. This spinning rock just doesn’t make sense sometimes.

Guys in his situation, those who have genuinely learned from their mistakes, I believe, can come in and make a huge difference. They have a new, unforegranted, lease on life and for that they are thankful. I say we have nothing to lose by picking the kid up. He is young & talented. Given his ordeal, I feel he would bring intangibles like maturity, balance, leadership and determination that would become contagious to those around him. I like this move a lot. His numbers in Cleveland were less than stellar, but look who was throwing him the ball, and the rest of the talent around him. In NE, he thrived. In KC, he could be the catalyst we need, and we the catalyst he needs based on the tangible changes happening in KC. He is familiar with both Romeo Crennel and Scott Pioli. I think it would be a great fit. What do you guys think?

Intersesting how he says he only had 2 seconds to react, yet he had time to flash his lights and honk his horn and still hit him. It doesnt add up…
