Evening Addicts. Soren Petro had Lenard Pope on the Red Zone today for an interview so I listened in in case he said anything important. I have a few quotes here for you, nothing earth shattering.
While I was there, I took the opportunity to ask Josh Looney, of KC Chiefs.com a few questions for sort of an impromptu, informal interview. I’ve included those answers as well. Enjoy!
“I just want to take it as a blessing that I came to the Chiefs.”
“I really feel comfortable being in the offense knowing Todd.”
“I just stayed in a hotel the whole year.”
On if he had a difficult time coming to the team mid season:
“To be honest, not really, you know, my personality, I’m a crazy, goofy type guy, get everyone going. Me and Jamaal became very good friends.”
On Jamaal Charles:
“I really kind of did, I told Jamaal, you know, Todd likes guys that are his type of guys. Guys that like to work hard and don’t really don’t worry about whats goin on. Just work hard.”
“Jamaal didn’t just play football, he was a track star too.”
“Jamaal he’s a tough guy man. Just like me and the other guys on offense. Todd and the offensive coaches put a lot on our plate.”
“I would say, with me, he’s the same guy. Like I told him, I said Todd ‘A lot of the guys, they don’t really know you.’
On Todd Haley:
“He’s the first one almost on the field congratulating you, jumping up and down and stuff.”
On playing in the Super Bowl:
“It was an experience I will never forget. We had to make it through a lot of tough times.”
Paddy’s Impromptu Josh Looney Interview:
Hey Josh, do you think the Chiefs will stand pat with their crop of Tight Ends with decent play by Pope and a surging Cottam at the end of the year? Or will they make a move?
Interesting question…i think they’re content with Pope/Cottam and want to see more of O’Connell.
Josh, do you think the Chiefs can move forward with their current crop of RB’s or do they need to find a bigger, downhill runner for short yardage situations and to spell Charles?
I like Blount from Oregon…doubt he’s there in the 2nd round though.
That’s the type i’d like to see backing up Charles…heard some radio guys today talking Reggie Bush @*##$.
Josh, do you think resigning Mike Vrabel would hold Andy Studebaker back? He played very well when he was filling in for Vrabel and recorded a lot of tackles. Or should the Chiefs go for a new OLB all together…a pass rusher maybe?
I’mnot sure if studie is ready just yet…he’s a perfect 3rd OLB. if the chiefs don’t resign vrabel, i see another veteran coming in to at least push studie.
