Chargers Choke…Again. Chiefs Fans Celebrate

AUTHOR: Patrick Allen | IN: Chiefs | COMMENTS: 24 Comments |

The Chargers choked up another playoff loss tonight against the New York Jets and their smothering defense.

It seems as though every year, all we here about is how talented the Chargers are. They seem to be annual Super Bowl favorites and annual playoff choke artists.

This year, it was Charger kicker Nate Keading who was mainly responsible for the post season collapse. Keading missed 3 FG’s in a game the Chargers lost by 3.

I think as long as Philip Rivers is around the Chargers will be a force to deal with. As much as I dislike the guy, he is a heck of a QB.

For now, however, Chiefs fans can take solace in the fact that none of the other AFC West teams will win the big one this year either. Onward to the draft and the 2010 season!

Being a selfish person and if the Chiefs can’t get a shot at the SB I don’t want anyone else in the AFC west to win either. It warmed my heart to see the Chargers stumble again. The Chiefs fans understood before the season started but the Chargers KNEW they were going to win this game and were assured by all of the talking heads that they were a shoe in. The see it slip away so quickly had to hurt.lol

  2. johnny5 says:

I loved seeing Phillip Rivers frustrated. Patrick I agree with you that he is a heck of a QB, but he is one of the most hot headed players. I really don’t care for him AT ALL. I know it is easy for me to be a hater being a Chiefs fan and all, but even if I look at it objectively, I still can’t stand that guy. I agree he is talented, but I love to see him loose and whine like a baby. The only two people on the Chargers that I give props too is Sproles and LT. They both seem like stand up guys.

    Loving this loss!!

  3. randy5k says:

Yes, Im not so much glad the Jets won as I am the Bolts lost. I wonder if Bolts fans think Brees a better QB than Rivers?

  4. Patrick Allen says:

The Chargers played dirty. Headbutting and drawing personal fouls.

The Jets played with confidence and passion. They stuck to their game plan and it worked.

    The better team won.

  5. Daniel says:

Definetly….I’m glad that the most overated team in the NFL got bonced by a team nobody believed could win. Mark sanchez a star in the makings belive that.

  6. joe says:

I was happy to see them loses too, but I can’t laugh to much given our Chiefs sucked even worse this year and didn’t even have a winning record much less a remote shot at the playoffs.

  7. Tom says:

We have sucked for the last few years and I as a fan can’t effect anything the Chiefs do. So I enjoy seeing those teams that every one expects to win LOSE.

  8. slackjaw says:

I was happy to see Phil Rivers walk off the field all dejected looking, It was fun to see LT pouting so often…I wonder if that was LT`s last game in a Charger uniform…

  9. Tom says:

All stars fizzle at some point and nothing will stop the march of time from marching all over LT.

  10. Patrick Allen says:

LT is already done. He is was ok for them in spot duty this year but his days as a feature back are over. He had great career but I suppose it is time to hang them up.

  11. merlin says:

    LT is a class act.

  12. BOLTSFAN4LIFE says:

CHIEFS FANS ONCE AGAIN HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN TO BASH ON THE CHARGERS, IF I WERE A CHEIFS FAN ID BE VERY BITTER TOO. I MEAN ITS NOT LIKE YOU HAD ANY KIND OF DISAPPOINTMENT THIS SEASON RIGHT, YOU KNEW THE CHEIFS SUCKED FROM THE FIRST DAY OF TRAINING CAMP. SO TO SEE A TEAM IN YOUR OWN DIVISION LOSE IN THE PLAYOFFS MUST FEEL REALLY GOOD TO YOU. BUT ID RATHER LOSE IN THE PLAYOFFS THAN TO BE THE WHIPPING TEAM OF THE NFL. BOTTOM OF THE BARREL AND FULL OF ENY AND JEALOUSY. IM PROUD OF MY CHARGERS, THEY PLAYED THIER HEARTS OUT AND HAD A GREAT SEASON. 11 IN A ROW. QUITE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT. GOOD LUCK IN THE DRAFT CHIEFS!

  13. Tom says:

Everything you say is true about the Chiefs but I bet it really hurts today don’t it. Visions of going to the SB and watching your team winning and everyone in SD screaming as they raise the trophy. I’m sorry the Chargers was eliminated weren’t they?

  14. BOLTSFAN4LIFE says:

“IM SORRY THE CHARGERS WAS ELIMINATED WEREN’T THEY??”… UHM IM NOT SURE WHAT YOU “WAS” TRYING TO SAY THERE TOM. BUT YEAH ITS DISAPPOINTING SURE, WHEN YOU HAVE A GOOD TEAM AND THEY DONT REACH THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF WINNING THE SUPER BOWL TT DOES HURT. BUT LIKE I SAID IM STILL PROUD OF MY TEAM AND WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THEM. ID RATHER HAVE A GREAT SEASON AND LOSE IN THE PLAYOFFS THAN TO BE THE LAUGHING-STOCK OF THE NFL. LOSING RECORDS, WHAT IS IT 10 AND 38 THE PAST THREE SEASONS, THAT CLOSE? CHARGERS 11 IN A ROW THIS YEAR. SO I UNDERSTAND CHEIFS FANS BITTERNESS TOWARDS ANY TEAM THAT WINS, LOSING YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT HAS THAT EFFECT ON PEOPLE.

  15. Tom says:

I wasn’t put under suicide watch last night. Oh by the way has the Chargers ever won a SB?

  16. BOLTSFAN4LIFE says:

HAHA, ARE YOU TALKING BOUT THE SUPER BOWL THEY PLAYED FORTY FREAKING YEARS AGO TOM, GET REAL MAN. THEY PLAYED WITH LEATHER HELMETS BACK THEM. I BET YOU COULDNT EVEN NAME ONE PLAYER FROM THAT TEAM LET ALONE SPELL.

  17. jcharlesfan says:

    Hey BOLTSFAN4LIFE:
Just curious as to why you are on the Chiefs blog site anyway?? Did you not enjoy reading all the wonderful things on the Chargers site today? The Chiefs have had some bad times but we are on the way up. The Chargers on the other hand have a washed up running back, a dwarf who can’t start a whole season, and a bunch of choke artists who blame each other for their shortcomings, King Carl Jr. as a GM and a coach who blows it EVERY YEAR AT HOME! I’m sure as we climb higher we’ll all see you on your way down.

  18. Tom says:

The Chargers will make it some day but it won’t be this year. You just hang in there someday the bolts will be right up there with the Chiefs, Raiders and the Donkeys

Welcome to AA. I must ask, however, that if you wish to comment you please keep your voice down. All caps typing does not make anyone listen to your arguments anymore closely. That goes for everyone. All caps typing and bickering will not be tolerated. Good, healthy debate is always welcome on AA.

As for the headline, it is not meant to offend everyone. If a little friendly trash talking about the other AFC West teams offends anyone I suggest you find another place to talk Chiefs football.

AA is not ESPN.com. We will always try to be fair here but you can not expect us to be balanced. This is a Chiefs blog. We will be pro Chiefs and anti Raider, Charger and Donkey.

Trolling will not be tolerated. As AA grows their will be a lot more commenting. It is already starting. Readers must act like adults. This will not turn in to the Kansas City Star forums.

  20. Tom says:

I’m sorry I got carried away but I couldn’t help my self as I seen the big mouth Rivers get his I was just overcome.

  21. Patrick Allen says:

    It’s ok Tom.

We are going to have a kick ass community here Addicts. We’re going to talk Chiefs football. We aren’t always going to disagree.

As the site is growing things like this are going to happen. We have gone from just 300 or so visits a day to 2 sometimes 3, 4 and even 5 thousand.

We need readers like you who comment and get involved. We’re going to try to set an example of how we want this forum to be.

We’ll be coming out with a commenter manifesto soon. Just so we have a groundwork for what is and what is not acceptable here.

cheers all and thanks for reading.

  22. Tom says:

I actually could name all the players of that 69 team.

I personally knew Dave Hill we were on the same Mustang club. He worked at Tall Paul’s Ford as their PR guy. I came in one day and made a comment about a recent lose with the New York Jets and our friendship nearly came to a end.
