Crennel’s agent told me his client would be interested in the Giants’ gig. Again, so are a bunch of other people. But Crennel does have quite a bunch of skins on his wall, as Jerry Reese and others like to say, after Super Bowl-winning stints as an assistant with the Giants and Patriots. ESPN reported recently the Chiefs were planning to hire Crennel, who was the Browns’ head coach from 2005-08, though the report didn’t indicate for which coaching position. Tuesday, NFL.com reported the Chiefs retained their entire defensive staff, including defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast, save for one assistant: defensive line coach Tim Krumrie.
I don’t know, Addicts. In my opinion, his is just a leverage play by Crennel’s agent. He wouldn’t be doing his job if he didn’t keep his clients options open. Due to the ESPN report by Adam Shefter, that the Chiefs are likely to sign Romeo, Crennel’s agent probably doesn’t want other teams thinking it is a done deal. It very well may be but it wouldn’t hurt for Crennel to draw some interest from other clubs to help in contract negotiations with Scott Pioli.
Until I hear an update from Shefter I will be leaning toward his report on this situation. All of this is just speculation though Addicts. You can be sure we’ll have the news for you as soon as anything concrete hits.

The Giants run a 4-3, this seems a bit fishy to me.
I know I am the only one here that is going to say this, but let him sign with the Giants. They have more problems on the team than the DC. I actually think we should keep Clancy. I LOVE the 3-4 and I know Romeo is considered a guru, but I think Clancy has brought out the beast in Tamba. I think getting him and DJ into their new roles was a VERY hard thing to do. I am one of the people that thought both were going to be WAY out of position this year and they have both shown flashes of being great at their new positions. Don’t get into a price war with the f-ing Giants, we cannot win that battle. Keep the cheaper option, he CAN and WILL make this into a top ten defense IF we can now find a much better D-Line coach than Tim Krumrie’s dumb yelling ass. If our D-line can get a much better and more CONSISTENT push up the freaking middle, then the LB’s and DB’s have a better shot at being pro bowlers. If the D-Line doesnt close rushing lanes or get pressure on the QB, NO defense is going to succeed. I was hoping Krumrie was going to be fired LAST offseason!
To me it seems like a pathetic excuse from an agent to try to get a higher number from the Chiefs. Next time Crennel’s agent do your homework and pick a valid excuse like a 3-4 team not a heavily devoted 4-3 team, when your client is a 3-4 coach.
