Morning Addicts. I am re-watching the game this morning on NFL Rewind, which if you don’t have, I highly recommend. It is a great way to get an idea of what went right, wrong and which players are progressing. I’ll be back later today with my reactions.
Until then, here is your Morning Fix.
“It’s really tough to swallow because we were so close to pulling that game out,” safety Jon McGraw said. “We had played so well and we had them on the 2-yard line. We were feeling at that point we were in really good position to win the game. All we had to do was play the way we had played all day.

Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel said Charles has emerged as perhaps the most dependable player on Kansas City’s offense. Big plays seem to be a given, and he has helped open a playbook that had stalled only a few weeks ago.

“It didn’t seem that bad to me,” Castille said. “I was just focusing on the ball. When I had my hands on it, I just remembered not to let it go. I don’t get that many opportunities. When I do, I have to make the most of them. That’s kind of what coach’s motto is. That’s always in the back of my head.”

But in the end, the Chiefs defense couldn’t stop Carson and the Bengals offense, even with the help of the K.C. special teams. When a Dustin Colquitt punt was downed at the Cincinnati two-yard line, the Chiefs had 98 yards to protect and just over nine minutes to play.

Gafford did the same thing he’s done every time this year. Only this time he sent the ball flying over Colquitt’s head. It wasn’t even close. Colquitt chased after the ball and rather than fall on it, and take the chance it would squirt away. On the run, he kicked the ball towards the end zone, but it rolled out of bounds at the seven-yard line. That’s where the Bengals took over.
“I thought that the team really fought back off a disappointing game last week,” Chiefs head coach Todd Haley said. “We came on the road against a very good team, a team that is now a playoff team. We had every intention of keeping them out (of the playoffs) for right now and I thought we had a very good chance to do that until the final drive.”
